Hi all...My friend has booked a week in Bluebeard's castle in St. Thomas and now wants to cancel because she has read bad reviews about the resort. I told her I would ask here to see if anyone has been there recently and to see what you thought about it.Any comments good or bad would be greatly appreciated. TIA Joanna IP: Logged |

I don't know about the conditions currently at the resort, but I do know that several of the HOA's of different phases there are now suing the former developer, and current developer, Fairfield.IP: Logged |

We have stayed many times at the Castle, since buying in the 80's. We were last on STT in 2/04. It's not a 4 or 5 star property probably a 3*. The location over looks Charlotte Amalie and harbor views from most units are wonderful. Lots of stairs as it's on a hilltop. There are two top rated restaurants and a pool bar/grill on the property. We rent a car and drive on the left, though taxis are all over they are more costly. There are safe deposit boxes at the desk free for guest use if you don't have a safe in your unit. We own at the Beach Club there also and IMHO it's really a toss up as they both have their positives. Can't compare to other island in the caribbean because when we can go to STT we do.IP: Logged |

Want to add my parents, an Aunt & Uncle were all at the Castle in Villas III weeks 8 and 9 this year and no complaints. Everyone has different expectations.Pirates Pension is the newest of all the associations, but they are at least ~8yrs old too I think. IP: Logged |

I stayed there and I loved it even tho I had the roommate from hell. There are a lot of activities and tours from there so no need to rent a car. shaggy------------------ Leslie Michael IP: Logged |

Pirates Pension is the only association that is not in litigation with Fairfield. They have Fairfield handling their affairs and the other 3 have an independent company. LindaIP: Logged |

We stayed at Hilltop II in December, and had no problems. It is an older resort, but the units are large, (we had a "deluxe" studio) and a great view. The pool was recently redone, and the "Room with a View" restaurant was terrific. But, to each his own!IP: Logged |

It was probably 4 yrs ago. I was lucky with my room as I didn't have to walk up the hill. I was straight across from the pool. There was something going on everyday and I just had a wonderful time. shaggy------------------ Leslie Michael IP: Logged |

The best Caribbean show was at the Bolongo's Iggies last winter. The one at the Castle last winter wasn't as good as it used to be in the past, sorry to say. IP: Logged |

We stayed there 6 years ago.Has a great view of the Harbour with boats coming in. Unfortunatley, we had to fight the hill all week. I smoked at the time (since quit 5 years in July) and found the hill very difficult. The full condos are on the hill. I think the closer ones are mostly studios. This was of course before all of the trouble. Dan IP: Logged |
