Six rounds total and you can only use two per day. Also, $27 per round per person for cart fee. Great courses, but there are others around the Williamsburg area that are just as nice and depending on when you visit, may have similar pricing including greens fees. IP: Logged |

Fairway Villas in NY includes golf. You can play the two courses at the Marriott Seaview adjacent to the timeshare - the Bay and the Pines courses. There are other courses in the area that you can also choose from.IP: Logged |

I was just told by Marriott that I could not trade-in Heritage Club at Harbour Town with full golf privileges and go to another Marriott and receive free golf there. They said I had to be an owner at the resort I'm going to, to receive the free golf. Does anyone have any experience doing this? IP: Logged |

If you deposit your Heritage Club with, then your golf package will not follow you to the resort you trade into. That other resort, though, may have their own golf package. IMO, Heritage club has the best golf package in the Marriott system. If you use it to trade, then I think you're going to end up losing b/c Heritage Club has the highest MF's in the Marriott system (I think). If you're buying it to use and are a golfer, then you are making a good purchase. The really nice thing about Heritage Club is that even folks who trade into the resort get the golf package. I stayed there Chritmas week last year and I used my studio at Mountainside to make the trade. The golf package was phenomenal and included 1 round (2 people) at the Harbour Town course which normally has greens fees of $250 per person. ------------------ Disclaimer - I'm a novice and what I say is my opinion and may not always be accurate. Big Matt- when you locate those golf courses around Williamsburg similar in quality to Ford's Colony for $27 per person, let me know. I haven't been able to touch anything in that area for under $50 that's a comparable golf facility.IP: Logged |

You won't find them in the high season, but in shoulder season you can play at Royal New Kent, Stonehouse, Williamsburg National, and the Colonial for less than $40. The local paper (Virginia Gazette) runs ads in the sports section. Here is what they charge during this time of year: Williamsburg National ($45 including cart), Colonial ($35 including cart), Royal New Kent ($29 after 1pm), Stonehouse ($29 after 1pm).I would also try Deer Run golf course at Newport News Park. It is a municipal course, but the main course has a great/long layout and it is always in pretty good shape. They also let you walk any time on the second course. It is ten miles up the interstate from the Busch Gardens area of Williamsburg. Check out this link: http://www.nngolfclub.com/fees.htm

Marriott rolled out a new promotion for golf lovers. It is the purchase of two EOY weeks at Barony Beach and Canyon Villas. From what I gather the buyer pays 50% of each week. There is a free set of Callaway golf clubs to boot. Check out this link: http://www.vacationclub.com/en-us/owners/specials/purchaseSpecials.jsp If you are new to Marriott and purchase, feel free to use me as your referral.

"Free Golf" does not exist, especially when tied to a timeshare and when the timeshare is at a lovely resort area like Hilton Head. I have free golf at my Waterside but free means cart fees only for 4 persons daily for 7 days if you wish. If you are paying cart fees only at Hilton Head, you are doing well. Other marriotts do offer golf packages but they cannot compare to those resorts (Heritage or Fords Colony) that have a built in package of cart fees only. We were at Barony over Christmas and checked out the marriott packages versus our own shopping around and we got better deals on our own, 2 off island and one at Palmetto Dunes Ocean course. Marriott offers these packages as a customer service and they will do your bookings for you but you can usually do better shopping on your own, especially if you are not visiting during peak demand times. We were timeshare novices when we bought our Waterside(from developer )and were ripped off on the price but i figured a group of 4 would save close to $1000 weekly if they had to pay green fees along with cart fees for 7 days of golf. Funny how i can rationalize my stupidity. Point of all this is nothing is free unless someone else is paying for you. IP: Logged |

Thanks, Big Matt. Isn't it amazing how the golf market shook out in Williamsburg? Five years ago Royal New Kent and Stonehouse were going for $95-100 per round. The free enterprise system stepped in and PRESTO< CHANGEO... Now we are at $50-60 in prime season, and lower. NICE. This is a common occurrence at HIlton Head and Myrtle Beach, too. Golf saturation has hit the Southeast Golf Resort areas, and I like it.IP: Logged |

Heritage Club offers 2 rounds per day, or 14 rounds for the week. Can I use(play) 4 rounds one day, and none the next? I would like to go with my son, and each play 36, 36, and 54 holes in three days, is this possible?IP: Logged |
