My guess is that the letter you received at the time they asked you to have an appraisal done says something to the effect that they would make an offer "based on the appraisal" rather than equal to the appraisal. These entities have spent a lot of time developing their pitch so that it appears they are promising more than they will deliver. And eventually they usually deliver even less than that!

For any Newbies reading this string of posts, Never, never ever pay an up-front fee in connection with trying to sell a timeshare! The only exceptions are for nominal listing fees ($25-30 or less) or advertisments in the newspaper of your choice.

Marriott Mountainside is not even fully sold out and therefore you are not even allowed to resell until 2002!

Lots of advice...

Here is a fact: As of today, there is a listing posted by a reputable broker for week 48 at your resort. Asking price is $7,000.

One difference... It's a TWO bedroom unit.

You judge.

Want to thank you for the information on Resort Investment Trust. Just had the hardsell pitch by them and their "appraiser." Fortunately I thought it sounded too good and decided to do some research. Your site provided excellent service and was right on point for exposing these frauds. I've got a call in to them now to let them know I'm on to their game. Thanks again for the public service.

I was just contacted yesterday by RIT and it sounded great. I sure am glad I registered this evening to check out this BBS. Thanks.
