*Bluegreen was originally with II. Since it is a D.I.Y., members can use either, as long as the resort is affiliated with the chosen exchange company.

D.I.Y. - Do it yourself. With some Clubs, you may request a week of their choice or even a week of your choice to deposit into the Exchange company.

Transaction Fees
Just to clarify what this is. Some groups like Equivest, limit the number of times you can contact them to conduct business. For Equivest, making a reservation, banking, borrowing, transferring, etc., are all transactions.

Borrowing
Some Clubs require you to pre-pay a portion or all of the next year's maintenance when you borrow points. With most, you can borrow all of next year's points any time during the present year.

Wonderful Chart, Marina. Can you have Doug add it to the Admin notes at the top of the page so its kept there? I'd hate to lose it again.

Awesome Marina, thanks! As a (current) non-points owner, this is very helpful/informative! (clarificationnote: with Starwood, you CAN borrow points from next year, but you must prepay that year's maintenance fee to get them and then are only allowed to make a reservation 90 days out.)

Thanks Fern.

I had a lot of help from Steve AKA Hatrack who saved the old chart and some TUG members whom I spammed. They shouldn't leave their email addresses lying around

Actually, I belong to Sunterra Pacific, which used to be Vacation Internationale. Although SP is affiliated with Club Sunterra, there are somewhat different rules. You can rent points. There are affiliations with both II and RCI, plus an internal exchange program. Fees are $139 per year, including both ClubSun and II dues. (Or, if you prefer, you stick with the SP base program, which worked for me for 10 years -- no requirement to join ClubSun, II, or RCI.) There is a 50% point use reduction for II within 30 days of check-in. Point values are different than with ClubSun, although you convert to ClubSun values if you trade into a ClubSun property (1 SP point = 60 ClubSunterra points). For SP resorts, SP owners have somewhat different point breakdowns than for ClubSun owners trading in (e.g., weekends same as weekdays, some differences in minimum stay). SP also has a maid point system (only valid for SP resorts).

Maybe the best part is that SP is, to my understanding (am sure someone here could correct me if I am wrong!), has separate corporate structure from ClubSunterra, and had assets shielded from the ClubSun bankruptcy.

What is the difference between reservation and transaction. They seem like the same thing to me.

Can you clarify?

A reservation would be making a booking at a resort.

I'm using transaction loosely to include all the things you might do, like making a reservation, changing a reservation, banking, borrowing, transferring points, etc.

In Fairfield's case, they allow 1 free Reservation Transaction per 77,000 points. Technically, you can do more as long as it's done in one phone call. For them a Reservation Transaction includes making a reservation, changing a reservation, transferring points. Anything else?? Anything more than 1 phone call per 77,000 points will cost $25.00 each.

This is not as bad as Equivest's which restricts you to doing everything you need to do for the whole year to one day.

Marina,

Under RCI points you write the reservation period for other resorts is 10 months. Do you really mean all other resorts or all other points resorts only? It was my understanding that a RCI-points member in the US has a reservation period of 24 months for any non points resort?

The Reservation Periods for all the groups refer to reservations made at resorts within the group.

Reservations/Exchanges with RCI/II for all groups was not covered.
