I was contacted by a TONY WARE also using a cellphone #-407-538-0650 on 4-14-05. He started by asking if I still wanted to sell, then telling me he was a TUG Broker and he would set me up with a closer if I didn't already have one, for $350-400. He said he would call me back that same evening. When he did I asked him about the closer then he got agitated and said if I thought he was a scamer he didn't need to talk to me and hung up. Thanks to the Tug & BBS topic page it saved me some money. Its a blessing to belong to TUG & BBS. Thank you again

With all the scams aimed at TUG and TUG members I think that there should be a predominant warning sign when logging into TUG something like:------------------------------------ Warning: --------------------------------------------- TUG does not endorse or support any broker, real estate broker or other agents in either timeshare or fractional unit sales or rentals. If approached by someone claiming to be a TUG endorsed broker just hang up if phoned or ignore the eMail. Just as suggestion, timeshare scams seem to be escalating and TUG really should have an official policy. Perry

I would not say an "official policy" but at least a disclaimer on the main page, that they do not have a sister company that will be contacting you.IP: Logged |

Hello- I was also contacted by Dave Ware who had a Costa Rica buyer for my timeshare. He was willing to pay my full price plus my 2005 week for the maint cost. I accepted the "offer" and was told to send, by telegram, $375 to this person in CR to close the deal. I was given the Western Union # and he was going to call me in 15 min to see if I had followed instructions. After thinking a while I "figured" it was a scam, so when he called I said no way. He said I was uncooperative and he was going to pull my TUG add. Thanks to all Edward Pape IP: Logged |

Hey, we had the same scam from Tony Ware. Then last week brother David called. How stupid do they think we are? Both of them got agitated with us too. But we did fall for Advertmarketing which is now out of business. Our $200 is being disputed with Master Card. Where can we report both of these companies to stop these scams? I did tell Mastercard about others that have called us.IP: Logged |

I got an email from some guy who wanted to pay the full price on my timeshare and let me use it the following year. All I had to do was call his closing company to set up the details. When I called them they wanted money for something or other, can't remember what, but it sounded riduclous to me. I also had someone from Vacation Register tell me my timeshare was worth more than I had it listed for on Tug and Redweek. He said he could sell it for me in record time since they had so many websites. All I had to do was to give him some money to list it etc etc. I wrote to tug bbs and everyone told me it was a scam. Thanks to those posters on tug for all their help! MarylynIP: Logged |
