I've never heard this discussed. What are the rules around doing a direct exchange with exchanged properties.

Let me clarify. I had mentioned on the sightings board that I can see a 2 BDRM Four Seasons Aviara with either my Aruba or Maui LO( off-season of course). Someone contacted me and said they would love to get that 2BDRM 4S, and they can offer me their top shelf RCI resort, which I'm really not interested in, or he offered to trade for a place that I am, which there are several.

My question is, does II and RCI prohibit the direct exchange of exchanged propoerties? He takes my trade into 4S, and I take his in the destinataion of my choice within RCI. No money will trade hands. Is this legal?

Regards.

Interval's terms and conditions says

" Members are expressly prohibited from exchanging or renting the Host Accommodations"

I dont know about RCI but they probably say the same thing.

I don't know why you couldn't have the person with the RCI week buy a guest certificate for you and you could do the same. No money changes hands between the two of you. It would seem that each transaction stands alone--you are each obtaining a week for someone else and buying a guest certificate.

Since the exchange company offers guest certificates for the very purpose of allowing someone other than the member to use the week, why would they prohibit you from doing so?

Joe, you've been around that long and you haven't seen this hot topic. Are you just baiting us?

Technically it is prohibited but it is done at times, as is renting an exchange.

Dean,
I can honestly say I don't recall this specific question ever coming up. Renting an exchange a definate no no, because you could have some price gouging, but when there is no money exchanged, I really don't see the harm in what I am suggesting. I won't be doing it now because I certainly wouldn't do anything against the rules.

Regards.
