My wife and I went to Newport RI Memorial weekend and stayedcourtesy of Fairfield on a "Getaway" weekend, and signed a deal and now just canceled it(We have 7 Business days to cancel in NY where we live). We have 3 weeks(2SA & 1 Fairfield Flagstaff)and the sales rep sold us on converting to Fairshare Points, but said we had to be points "Owners" first in order to convert any of our weeks to points, so they sold us the "cheapest" week to get us into the "system", which was a Bi-annual week at Bentley Brooke in Mass for $9600 worth 154000 points every other year. Then they "let" us convert our other 3 weeks into 105,000 points each, "threw in" another 154,000 points for two years(for only $650 fee). We signed, went home and then I reviewed the contract details closely and checked asking prices of Bentley units in tug and Red Weeks. com and it became evident that we were being "overcharged". I found Floating Annual summer week asking price $3500. My question is what are the "rules" regarding converting Weeks resorts to Fairshare Points? Are Fairshare points any good? It seemed to me that choices are limited in terms of other resorts in the Fairshare system to choose from. There are fees for going outside the system. How easy it to actually get exchanges. I like the Flexibility that points appear to offer, but I'm not sure what reality is. Can anyone shed light on Fairshare system and how well it works?

The same thing happened to us at Fairfield Bay, AR. We to had to buy before converting to to points. About the same as you were told. We to got home and thought about all the money it would be costing us and decided to keep our week and we cancelled our contract. To be fair to Fairfield we had no problems getting our money back and it only took about three weeks. We feel much better now.IP: Logged |

Your Fairfield week can be converted for a $2400 fee. Many sales locations will only do this with a point purchase though, you might have to go through corporate sales to get it.Non Fairfield weeks can only be converted with PIC, which requires a developer purchase. 3 BDR red weeks yield the most points (or a 4 BDR lockout but there are sometimes problems with these) Done with planning, you can get 1,000,000 points and VIP platinum for the same cost as resale, including the required developer purchase.
