I have owned a couple of off season weeks at A.V. for some years. What used to be a well managed property with $280 m/f's has been managed into the ground by Tricom. Fees are doubled with special assessments on top.

There used to be huge demand to own there. Now I am not so sure.
More than a year ago I listed my two weeks with Tricom's in-house sales run by Gloria Purcell to sell at any price ... and nothing.

I traveled for the last 6 months of 2004 and had trouble receiving mail. When I eventually received late notices from A.V., I contacted them in February to pay them and was told it was out of their hands. Just into the related hands of the collection agency they own/control.

I asked Gloria to intercede, even telling her I would deed the weeks to the resort. Now I get a letter from Gloria offering me the wonderful deal of paying Tricom $250 per week for a title search on these weeks ... to deed them back.

Owning 15 weeks at different properties, I do lose track sometimes of m/f's but resorts generally work with me. All I can see here is self dealing by Tricom.

I can blow off these weeks without missing them and maybe that's what Tricom is counting on. I feel sorry for others taken to the cleaners by them.

If your not happy with management because of increasing fees I totally understand that.

However, I dont fault the management for any charges they impose on you for your being late with your maintenance fees.

Regardless of how many weeks you own and regardless of you traveling, it is still your responsibility to pay your fees on time.

You have to pay your mortgage, credit card bills, etc on time or face late fees. Same goes here.

Yes, it does sound like a "rant".

Let's go over some of the statements. You said that you didn't pay your mx fees "on time". When were they due? When DID you pay them? IF you did pay them, did you pay the "late" charges associated with the late payments? (I "think" that most, if not all timeshare management companies charge "late" fees, and re-instatement charges for "non-paying" owners.)

Did you "really" tell Gloria to "sell at ANY price"???

Even if you were having trouble getting your mail, you should have known "when" the mx fees were due (you said that you have owned the weeks for many years) and , as a responsible owner, should have paid what was owed, on time.

As far as the AV "going downhill" (or something like that), this is what I have to say. Stayed there last March, and found the units to be very nice; had a good ocean view (even though it was one block away); the whole staff and management were great; and we have a very enjoyable time.

All of the "Tricom" people I have met are very professional, and "bend over backwards" to help the timeshare owners and exchangers.
