Free shuttle bus available for tourists, locals Daily Press May 23 2005 http://www.dailypress.com/news/columnists/dp-20464cm0may23,0,4157457.column?coll=dp-news-columnists "The Virginia Department of Transportation and Hampton Roads Transit are nailing down the exact specifics for the shuttle, which is set to launch June 18 and run about a dozen round trips a day. Free tickets will be first-come first-serve, and buses will run seven days a week with morning departures and evening returns." I don't know any more about this but it might be worth checking out if you plan on staying in Williamsburg and visiting Virginia Beach.

Wonder if they plan to run the service during the predictable 30 min. plus delays at Hampton Rhodes Bridge Tunnel on Friday afternoon and rush hrs. just about any summer afternoon? I would not want to be on board on the return trips with tired, sunburned, and cranky kids from either Williamsburg or Virginia Beach. Yours JimIP: Logged |

yes, you can always count on Friday afternoon HR tunnel delays in the summer but they could go the "Monitor Merrimac" route - a little longer in miles but less traffic. IP: Logged |
