I save a ton of money by owning DVC.

I paid off my DVC years ago - so I only have to pay the maintence fees.

Disney's maintence fee are high - but have you priced their hotel rates. My maintence fees are $3.01 a point. It cost 8 points to stay in a studio at OKW for one night. So I end up paying $24 to stay on WDW property. Oh yea!!! It is definitely worth it to me.

last year I start to only stay in studio and rent my other points. No other timeshare rents as easily and as quickly as DVC does. Most timeshares you are also competing with RCI and II - but when II gets a DVC they immediately trade it - so it nevers shows up in the getaway these days. So the only competition is WDW.

here is what Disney's charges for OKW http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/resorts/resortRates?id=OldKeyWestResortRatesL istingPage

most DVC member use between $10 and $14 points to rent their DVC.

so you can rent from a member for $80 to $112 a night my studio - or you can pay Disney $259 to $289 for the same room.

now I don't get housekeeping and the weekends (fri/sat) are so high that I try to discourage people from renting them.

Disney prices on their hotels are going up again. and lately the discounts have been down right sad. No more 40% off on rooms. the latest discount are between $100 and $75 for the DVC resorts. Oh I forget if you rent from Disney you need to add the 11.5% for taxes.

That's your opinion, and your entitled to it.

I suppose my problem with Disney is that it is mainly for kids and has some adult features, but the main reason is to go to theme parks.

Maybe if they added a Casino to Frontierland (Indian ownership - get it) I could see the long lasting benefit.

Dan

I will not dignify your first comment with a response.

Walt wanted to build a "family park", not a "kids park", or an "adults park".

Somehow I don't think Walt had a casino in Frontierland in mind.

You are not comparing apples to apples. You are comparing a moderate level resort to a top level TS.

Seriously, Bonett Creek is everything that any upscale resort offers and more. It is set within the property that houses RTU units that cost much more yet equals or betters the unit experience.

"Set within the property" That's some slick wording, but gives the wrong impression.

Better unit experience is a personal opinion.
