Has anyone stayed in the last year or so at this resort? The last review was in Aug.2001. I'm trying to decide if I should add another resort to my search for January 2006 on the Big Island.

What about Worldmark Kona? Again, last review was 10/2001.
TIA

I've stayed at both, but not recently. And I think I did reviews on both.

If you're going during the summer I'd stay away from RAVC as they don't have air-conditioning. Since you're going in January it might be fine. The units are old, but they are laid out well and the location is good. However, if you are in a unit on the side where the road is it can get noisy. And I believe you get what you get, no way to ask for a certain unit.

We didn't care all that much for the Worldmark, and I know there are folks who absolutely love them. I think this was the place that had the smallest master bath I've ever seen. Also, there was no cross ventilation so we needed to keep the air conditioning on all the time (again we were there during the summer). When the air conditioning is on you can't sit out on the balcony since the air conditioning unit sits out there and blows hot air when it's running.

I probably wouldn't put either of these on my search list. What other places do you have?

We are owners of 2 winter weeks at KCR. I've reserved both weeks simultaniously for a family gathering, but I really need another 2 bedroom. I'm using a very strong trader with II, but I currently am asking for only KCR I or II and only requesting 1 specific week as we're not flexible this time. I've been told that its still early and I should get it, but the search has been going on since February and I'm getting a bit nervous. KCR winter weeks' owners have until about week 50 to book at KCR then deposit, but I can't wait THAT long.

Of the II resorts in Kona, I thought the RAVC or Worldmark offered the better accommodations after KCR.

Another alternative is to purchase another 2 bdrm winter KCR, which we were planning to do, but not just yet. Its a thought, though.

Thanks, Luanne, for replying so quickly.
