Hi Tuggers,I am looking for a 1bd unit for my sister for their anniversary. They are not timesharers, so they tend to do a lot of last minute planning. They need check-in dates of July 8th or 9th. I am trying to pull a Marriott for them, but so far, I can only see a studio unit. I am checking a few times a day. I have seen other units that I am not familiar with. I have read the reviews, but I am still stuck. Can anyone share if they have stayed, or own at the following resorts? LaCabana, ? Palm Village and LaQuinta? They mostly use hotels when they travel, so I don't think they will be too picky. I am also thinking of putting in a request with RCI. Thanks. Brenda IP: Logged |

If it is only the two of them take the Marriott studio. It is definitely better than the other you have to choose from. IP: Logged |

LaCabana is huge (800+ rooms) and across the street from the beach. Carribean Palm Beach is not on the beach at all...it is one mile inland. LaQunita is also across the street from the beach and has about 70 rooms...a very small resort. Take the studio at Marriott if that's all you see. OR, look on the BB's for a direct rental. I agree, a Marriott studio for two would be the best choice among those you listed. For hotel dwellers, they'd be thrilled. We stayed in a Surf Club studio last August and thought it was very nice. Of course, being experienced timesharers we knew what we were missing by not getting at least a 1br. Jack ------------------ Life's short. Fish hard. IP: Logged |

I know that LaQuinta is much loved by its owners. It IS across the street from the beach but it is a better beach than the Marriott (okay now don't all riot) and much less busy. I would go for a one bedroom rather than a studio. You have no guarantee to getting a view with the studio and there is no privacy. If they are used to hotels maybe they don't care. I know I like to be able to go into the other room if I want to go to bed earlier than DH. Check out reviews on www.visitaruba.com (trip reports) and www.aruba-bb.com. LindaIP: Logged |

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions. I grabbed the studio for them a few days ago, and they are tickled pink. I am still checking daily to see if I can snag a 1bd. I have seen a 2bd pop up every now and then for a last minute check-in. Thanks again.Brenda IP: Logged |

I'm sitting now by the pool with my wireless laptop at La Cabana. This is our third trip to Aruba. Glad you took the Mariott. It is by far the nicest timeshare on Aruba.La Cabana is very dated, IMHO. We stayed the last two times at Costa Linda which we like much better than La Cabana. The good thing about La Cabana is this wireless internet service, though it comes at a steep price. $18.00 a day or $105.00 per week. ------------------ Glynda IP: Logged |

I've read your message pertaining to an interest in purchasing a one bedroom timeshare in Aruba. Since you didn't mention the Royal Palm Club located at the Aruba Grand, perhaps you may want to investigate this timeshare. In my opinion, this timeshare is situated on the best local of the Island. It is one of the oldest highrise establishments and has undergone extensive renovations. I have a one bedroom unit situated on the 3rd floor available Week 35 (labor day week end). Hardship necessitates selling this unit. If interested, you can e mail me mywiff56@aol.com. IP: Logged |

We stayed in a Marriott studio. GREAT PLACE. My only objection - it's a double, not a queen, bed. ------------------ Cheers, Ellen IP: Logged |
