I've just been informed by an "AT&T international calling card customer service rep" that Aruba has 'disallowed' ALL calling cards. What are one's options for 'reaching out and touching someone' from Aruba? I've read various postings, however, to late to put them in motion (e.g. cell phone coverage, if available) as I wasn't expecting the response just received...or maybe I'm just CONFUSED!HELP....TIA IP: Logged |

One option is to rent a cell phone in Aruba. You'll use an Aruban calling card to call the US. Very reasonable. We did it a couple of years ago & used the Ventaha calling card. More than likely you can find the links on www.aruba-bb.com. Also, I remember seeing the info on the Aruba Plus card website.[This message has been edited by Chemee (edited 05-21-2005).] See this post from www.aruba.com: http://www.aruba.com/msgbrd/read.php?f=1&i=120146&t=120146 There are several others as well. We just bought their calling card. It comes in different denominations, and it can be used in certain public phones. You can find them in hotel lobby stores, etc. Just ask. We bought a $10 card and it lasted for quite a few calls.IP: Logged |

Hi,I'm in Aruba now and just bought one of the phone cards yesterday. As the other poster said, you can buy a card for different denominations for different amounts of time. You have to find a phone that takes the card, but they are common enough you won't have a problem finding one. Just to give you a perspective on the savings... At the Renaissance Suites, it's $2.95 per minute, plus a $2.50 connection fee. So one minute is about $5.50. The card I bought was $10.00 and will give me about 20 minutes of calling time, more if I call off hours. The phone company is downtown, not far from Iguana Joe's. I'm pretty sure they're closed on Sundays but they were open on Saturday. Hope this helps! Kathy Q IP: Logged |

We used this service every time we visit Aruba which has been many, many times. Here is the website if you want to do some research: Setar ------------------ Trev (:>) Never argue with idiots. They will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Pat,I feel your pain! Well, actually I haven't felt much pain at all this week. Gorgeous weather, umbrella drinks and lots of luck at the casinos have all contributed to my current relaxed attitude... Pity I have to return to the real world tomorrow! Kathy Q IP: Logged |
