We just returned from a week at Atlantis along with our first timeshare. We are now having second thoughts and need to make a decision to keep or recind. We bought a 1B/1B deluxe unit, silver season for 14,500 with 25,000 Starwood points. Is this a good deal? Seems like there's more out there for re-sale for a bit cheaper. Thanks! IP: Logged |

Harborside is a Starwood Resort and most of the TUG posts for Starwood are on the Hotel Based TS Board below. LOTS of info. about Starwood there. The price doesn't sound bad, (although you can usually do better with a resale) but are you totally happy with silver season? ------------------ Denise IP: Logged |

If you are not absolutely sure about your purchase then the best thing to do would be to rescind. Then if you still want to purchase a timeshare, whether Atlantis or elsewhere, you can research it and purchase a resale for much cheaper.IP: Logged |

Hi, It doesn't sound like a bad price at all but as previously stated, you should speak to other Starwood owners. Before you rescind though, take a look around at the resale prices for the resort. Keep in mind that if you do purchase a resale you will pay between approx $1,500- 2,000 in closing costs in fees. The fees in the Bahamas are steep. You need to consider this cost when making a comparison. If you are still unsure, rescind!!! ------------------ Danielle IP: Logged |

I dont really think it is a good price. It is Silver, which is basically hurricane/rainy season and it is the smaller 1 bedroom unit. If I recall someone on TUG, I think Cathicool, bought a two bedroom platinum for not much more than what this one bedroom costs.

I believe that a resale at a SVN mandatory resort would be your most cost effective vehicle to use the Atlantis during silver season. There is ample availability for exchange during hurricane season. A resale Vistana Villages 2 bedroom prime season annual use unit recently sold on ebay for $5700. Its MF is a little less than what you will be paying. It is worth 81K staroptions. I have booked two exchange reservations at the Atlantis for the next 12 months. I snagged a 2 bedroom lock off in Oct. and a 1 bedroom premium platium unit in January. Both exchanges were valued at 81K staroptions. For roughly 1/3 the initial cost, and less annual MFs, I will be receiving more than double the sized accomodations that I would receive if I had purchased from the developer. I would suggest that you rescind. Ben

Is that on ebay? I only see a two-bedroom during Gold season going for 21,000 there. Also, when is Gold and silver season? Thanks. ------------------ Danielle [This message has been edited by Dani (edited 06-01-2005).] IP: Logged |

Dani I emailed you on HBR. When we were at Harborside in May the sales rep quoted rates for summer and spring. Summer being the season we were entering into. I believe that was equal to gold time and was less expensive than spring.BTW the postcards I mailed May 15th from the resort just got here yesterday June 1st. I've had a sinus/throat infection since vacation. Not sure if it's our cold weather or the flight. IP: Logged |
