We are leaving for Harborside Sunday. I have a couple of quick questions for the experts:

1. Are there grills? (We plan to eat in some)

2. Is there wireless internet (WiFi) or cable internet or anything that is not dial up?

3. Based on other reviews, I didn't rent a car. We don't need one correct?

Thanks so much and if anyone has any other advice, just let me know.

Tori

I didn't stay in the timeshare units but there are certain lounge's at the Atlantis where you can get wireless internet for $10.00 per day, I was also able to get it to work in my hotel room.

I dont know if you will need a car but I heard the water taxi and the bus was very good. Also the hotel has taxi's waiting for you if you need it.

Have a great time,
Susan

No grills--don't need a car==can walk or take water taxis or other taxes--they are cheap. There is wireless at Harborside $10 per day -- depending on your room location you may get it in your room--otherwise it is at the pool--also free internet access daily at the library in the main hotel. Green Parrot across the street has really good reasonable food--especially conch fritters--also Zio Gigis across street also for pizza/Italian.

I agree with everyone to NOT rent a car....you can walk places, take taxis, and take the ferry over to Nassau during the day. We own at Club Land'Or, right next to Harbourside. It is just a small place with 70 one bedroom units. I had some good food for lunch one day at the poolside restaurant at Harbourside, it is walking distance around the marina from us. We got married outside under the gazebo at Club Land'Or in October, and in the background of a lot of our photos from the wedding, you can see all the pretty pastel colored units at Harbourside!! Have fun!!Sue

Just came back from HBR,it was just wonderful. Agree you do not need a car. We used transport already mentioned and it was quite smooth all week. Buses in Nassau are 1.00 pp,taxi are plentiful and fares are posted, water taxi is 3.00 pp to Nassau from the HH Plaza. Tour excursions are from the same area or they pick up at the resort. Concierge at HBR is very helpful.

Internet access for 15 minutes per guest is at the Library at Atlantis and there was always a wait and we gave up after three tries. Your name is put on a list so you could time it and go back. We didn't want to wait so after three tries we gave up. Didn't bring our laptop and both our digital cells ( two different carriers)did not work in the Bahamas.

There are plenty of casual places to eat around Atlantis at Hurricane Hole Plaza and another nearby plaza.(Choosys,Anthonys,Gioss,Quiznos,Newscafe and a minimart,a liquor store,a few shops and nearby is Green Parrot an outdoor eatery. Across the street is a Straw Market(yellow bldg) not nearly as many things as the one in downtown Nassau but similar items.

For groceries head to City Market in Nassau. There are scheduled trips from the resort for 7pp each way and they wait 1 hour for you while you shop. I was sorry we didn't go there first thing.

Buy underwater cameras in the US for less than 10.00 because they are double there.

If you are going to bring back duty free liquor or delicious rum cake buy it in downtown Nassau,it's much cheaper than Paradise Island shops. There are some very nice stores downtown but they are mostly closed on Sundays. There is a Hard Rock Cafe and Senor Frogs where the ships dock and a small grocery mart. Also horse and buggy rides.

You need round coffee filters, sugar and S&P at the resort. Don't need to bring beach towels within the resort. There is a stereo and VCR in the cabinet and you receive many TV stations. There are 2-3 channels dedicated to Atlantis features and area attractions.

Beach vendors are not pushy,a polite no thank you is all that is needed.

Do see the spectacular view at The One & Only Ocean Club and sit in the two adirondeck chairs on the cliff. Worth it to us even though we didn't eat there. Sadly,we forgot to see The Cloisters. Dune restaurant is there and is very expensive.

One last thing....bring very strong sunscreen and aloe without alcohol(peels worse). I got severe leg burns and swelling(sunpoisoning)after 2-3 hours with SPF 45.

Have a wonderful trip!
