We discovered great fishing on Cranberry and Dog Lakes in
Seeleys Bay Ontario. We stay at a very nice "fishing" lodge
called Melody Lodge. I would prefer to stay at a resort with a
few amenities at the same time with great fishing.

Anyone know of such a place?

The closest timeshare to Melody Lodge, with fishing potential, is likely Calabogie Lodge. But, it is about 1.5 hours north of the Seeley's Bay area. If you like this area specifically the closest accommodations to a resort would be the Loughborough Inn, on Loughborough Lake. However, I would recommend the Opinicon Lodge, which is about 20 minutes North of Seeley's Bay,and is very pleasant.

Carl,

Thanks for your info. We are going to Melody Lodge over labor day, we will drive up to the resort that is 1.5 hours north to check it out. Do you know if the fishing is good there?

Also any suggestions on where to get a good dinner on the
route to the resort.

Thanks again.

Although I haven't been to Calabogie Lodge, my guess is that the fishing would be pretty good. Calabogie Lodge is affiliated with RCI--#2130 (Gold Crown). Here is their website: http://www.calabogielodge.com/
It would make a long day to drive from Melody Lodge to Calabogie and back. But, if you do, you could drive from Melody Lodge, north on Hwy 15 to Chaffeys's Locks to have lunch at the Opinicon Hotel. Their website: http://www.theopiniconresorthotel.com/
From there the drive to Calabogie would be about 2 hours. Since you know the area you know that you cannot drive in a straight line. You have to drive around several hundred lakes! Beautiful country though.

I'll put a plug in for my home resort of Birchcliff Villas at Deerhurst Resort which trades through RCI. Their website: http://www.deerhurst.on.ca
Deerhurst is 3 hours north of Toronto, near Huntsville. It has some amazing amenities: golf courses, tennis, indoor pools, live entertainment, etc. There is hiking nearby. It sits on Peninsula Lake which has northern pike and lake trout. Canoes and other watercraft use are complementary.

There's a worthwhile restaurant within Calabogie Lodge -- The Duck. I believe it made "Where to Eat in Canada" (or something like that) a couple of times. If nothing else, you'll be amused by their pretension. If interested, you might want to check regarding hours and reservations.

Gloria,
We are supposed to be staying at Chaudiere Lodge through a RCI exchange at the end of August. It is a Fishing Resort located north of Toronto dear Dokis Bay - Monetville, Ontario. It's an all inclusive as far as the meals, but lots of water and fish to be had. Will know more in a few weeks. We staying at Rendezvous Lodge off Vancouver Island a few years ago. Never knew Chaudiere was almost in our back yard.

Hi:
I own two weeks at Calabogie Lodge. It was because of this resort that our family grew to love timesharing.
The fishing on Calabogie lake can be quite good. It's mostly small and large mouth bass and pickeral.
The resort is located on Black Bay. Here's one fishing map you may want to take a look at. http://www.fish-hawk.net/Map_project/Calabogi.htm
e-mail me if you have specific questions I can answer for you.

Gloria:
Did you get to Calabogie? What did you think? How was the fishing on Dog Lake? A couple of weeks earlier I caught some nice bass on Loughborough Lake which is not far from Dog Lake.

Carl,

Never got out of Seeley's Bay, we discovered another area
on Cranberry Lake and the fishing was great. We had a great
time but I really want to try a lake with a nice hottub for
when we come in.

It's no longer a T/S resort, but The North Ridge Inn, Sundridge is a beautiful location. We stayed there on our first visit to Canada about 10 years ago. www.northridgeinn.com
