I own a 2 br Platinum Plus Easter week at the Aruba Surf Club - which can be split into a 1 br plus a lockoff unit, for exchange.

Which Marriotts do not offer a studio/efficiency unit - so that I could request an upgrade, when requesting an exchange between my studio unit, and a 1 or 2 br unit of the other Marriott?

How many non-Marriott timeshares are in the II system (particulary very high demand resorts), that do not have studio units - so that I can upgrade exchanging my studio unit?

I also have a Marriott two-bedroom (KBC)with the lock-off option. In the past I have successfully traded both the master and efficiency for the Waiohai Beach Club and Newport Coast Villas.(off season only) Both these properties are two bedroom properties without the lock-off option.

Also, be sure to check out possible II Getaways or private rentals for prices wich may not warrant exercising an exchange. For example, I both purchased a Getaway and rented the Newport Coast Villas for $700. (again during off-season)

Just for your information, in my most recent stay at the Grande Vista I learned that their newest buildings will NOT have lock-offs. It turns out the local zoning board decided that lock-offs should require twice as much parking and Marriott didn't have enough land to provide that.

So those of us who have lock-offs at GV are lucky. And if you are thinking of buying there, make sure you get one of the lock-off units.
