Second mentionFor whatever amount RCI.com reduces the size of their header ads, to eliminate unnecessary scrolling, I will reduce my TUG Signature by the same amount. If the header ads get reduced to where NO scrolling is necessary to start working on each page, my TUG Signature will disappear.

I'm not offering any deals, and I have no problem with scrolling, but I do have a concern about the banner ads in general. Whenever I have to use dial-up, the banner ads on rci's site eat up my minutes with connection time to ad.doubleclick.netIP: Logged |

Jim,I'll take this one under advisement The banner ads will stay; however, I will forward this feedback. The agreement was that no banner ad should be more than 30K in size, so that it should not be affecting site speed much at all. ------------------ ~ Madge IP: Logged |

This thread has just been brought to my attention.Personal criticism has no place in the TUG bbs. I have deleted a number of posts in this thread that comprise personal criticism and/or off-topic chatter, and the responses to them. Most of the participants have been around here long enough to know better. ------------------ Doug Wilson, "The Makai Guy" Email me TUG Volunteer Coordinator & BBS Administrator My websites: North Shore Kauai and Yellowstone 2003 Photo Gallery [This message has been edited by Makai Guy (edited 01-28-2005).] IP: Logged |

Madge - The problem is most likely not the size of the files, it's connecting to the doubleclick server. I've seen this on many ad-supported sites - when you don't get an immediate connection to the ad server, everything stops until the connection is made. ------------------ Doug Wilson, "The Makai Guy" Email me TUG Volunteer Coordinator & BBS Administrator My websites: North Shore Kauai and Yellowstone 2003 Photo Gallery IP: Logged |

FWIW, while I'm waiting I see "addoubleclick" on the "Opening Page" line.------------------ TUGboat Captain Blank Blank Credentials: >15 years timesharing/>75 exchanges/multiple weeks/long-time independent TUG contributor/Branson-Table Rock Lake boat rides Areas of Knowledge and Interest: Timesharing:Buying/Selling/Renting/Donating/Exchanging/Searching/Resort Management/Newbies/Florida(>30years)/Kauai/SOCAL/Colorado/Missouri/Arkansas/ Iowa/Ohio/Florida Other:Finance/Law/Real Estate/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Priceline/Hotwire/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living [This message has been edited by JLB (edited 01-28-2005).] IP: Logged |

Hi Doug,In researching this, I was indeed advised that the banners do not draw from RCI's servers. However, your point is one I would like to investigate further. If this process does cause added wait time for access to RCI's server, it is something we need to be aware of and address. Thanks for your input. ------------------ ~ Madge IP: Logged |

This morning, after my searches, I could not navigate out of RCI.It was stuck on "Downloading picture https://ad.doubleclick.net/viewad/999872/728_ExtraVac.v2_2.gif" or something close to that. After about 5 minutes I had to CAD. My computer is working fine on other sites I've been to this morning.
