So are you saying that I will not get a new one any longer as part of my membership fees? I understand that you can look at resorts online, but I like the maps that show me where the resorts are and the ability to curl up in a comfortable chair and look through the book and consider places I'd like to go.

Hi Madge, I looked at mine and it says Edition 1 on the spine. I would like an updated directory and feel that my membership fees should cover that courtesy.

Liz,

Whenever a new directory is produced, members receive a copy as part of their RCI subscription. There will be a new directory produced for 2006.

Very little information changes from one year to the next, which is why RCI reduced its production to once in two to three years. However, in order to accommodate new resorts that come online with us in the interim, we produce a supplement that is added to the directory in the years between. This directory with supplement is provided to new members, and is available to existing members for purchase.

The supplement includes about 20 pages. Since the directory you already have includes all except for those few pages, RCI does not mail a new copy unless one is purchased as a duplicate.

Additionally, even the directory with the supplement does not include the most current resort information - the online directory does.

For every other continent other than North America, there are no pictures, no detail, just a list. There aren't even any maps with little dots to show unit locations!

The 2005 resort supplement includes a few overseas resorts, with a reference to a map - that doesn't seem to exist.

Madge - is there another version (which will be mailed to members who reside on other continents) that would be available for those of us who want primarily to travel outside the US?

Laurie,

RCI sent an abbreviated, promotional version of the 2003 directory to selected audiences last month. We frequently test products and services with promotional offers and materials; however, we do not always include all members in each promotion.

The existing yellow directory, issued in 2003, is a complete directory that includes full profiles for international resorts. The abbreviated version contains only index information for these resorts. As always, for those who use the Internet, I recommend the online directory. It includes the most up-to-date resort information. Because it exists in an electronic medium, it is far less expensive and cumbersome for us to add or modify its contents.

A supplement of about 20 pages was added to the 2003 directory in 2004, and about 20 more pages were added for 2005. When new members enroll this year, they will receive a directory that includes the supplemental pages. If you would like to request one, they are also available to existing members for purchase at $15 USD/$18 CAD. The number of additions to the 2003 directory are few, and the online directory contains even more information at no additional cost.
