Several times I have deposited a Mayan Palace week with RCI and then exchanged back into a Mayan Palace resort. This enabled me to plan vacations earlier than allowed by the Mayan Palace, use a week from one year to vacation the next, etc. However, the ID's into which I have exchanged in the past now have the following statement in the urgent info. section: "No Mayan or Grand Mayan owners are allowed to confirm into this RST ID." In the past this statement was only listed for the developer's weeks. Can I no longer exchange back into a Mayan Palace?IP: Logged |

Cheryl17,For which resorts are you seeing that message? I'll be happy to check this out. It's an important question if the policy has really changed. ------------------ ~ Madge IP: Logged |

I also found the following for MP Riviera Maya:YEAR RULE IS STRICTLY ENFORCED FOR ANY COMBINATION OF THE FOLLOWING LEAD GENERATION RSTS: 6631,6632,6633,6634,6635, 6636,6860,6867,6974,6983,7491. ONLY 2 CONF ALLOWED PER MBR ACCOUNT IN 4 YRS; 2 CONF MUST HAVE A GC. NO CONSECUTIVE WEEKS. NO GRAND MAYAN, MAYAN AND/OR SEA GARDEN MEMBERS ARE ALLOWED TO CONFIRM INTO THE RST ID:'S LISTED ABOVE.**NO EXCEPTIONS** So looks like add the following resorts to the list: 6632,6633,6634,6635,6636,6860,6867,6983,7491 They're restricting non-owners to 2 times in 4 years, provided someone else travels the 2nd week, and owners can't even exchange back in. ------------------ Melinda Towne Come visit my homepage IP: Logged |

Cheryl17,I was aware that the resorts Mel pointed out restricted owners because Mayan provides this space to RCI specifically to generate sales. However, I was not aware that the same message appeared for the other resorts. I will do some checking to verify what Mayan's policy truly is and follow up here. ------------------ ~ Madge IP: Logged |

Cheryl17,According to our staff in Mexico, Mayan Resorts restricts Grand Mayan and Sea Garden Acapulco owners from visiting the resorts you pointed out. I was not aware of this - thanks for bringing it to my attention. ------------------ ~ Madge IP: Logged |

Thanks for looking into this. However, I'm still confused. I own at the Mayan Palace and have exchanged back into a Mayan Palace through RCI several times. Is this still allowed? In the past the only restriction was that I couldn't exchange into the Mayan Palace resort ID's that corresponded with developer deposits. I understand that there are also restrictions on exchanging between Mayan resorts of different levels (e.g. a Mayan Palace owner can't exchange into a Grand Mayan resort). Cheryl: Thanks for asking the original questions and this follow-up one. I'll look forward to Madge's answer.Madge could you also respond to two similar MP questions at the same time: If I owned a Mayan Palace unit as well as other timeshares and I was using a non-MP unit in my portfolio to exchange into an MP unit would I: a) Still have the restriction limiting Mayan Palace owners from exchanging into a Grand Mayan units and b) Would I be limited by 1 in 4 rule for RCI members? I have had conflicting advice of this and Cheryl's original questions before. TIA ------------------ Barb

Madge, now I am really confused. I am an RCI points owner as well as a Grand Mayan owner. I rented my 2005 week at the Grand Mayan, but still wanted to visit the resort. I called RCI and spoke with a vacation guide and specifically asked if it was allowed for me to use my RCI points to reserve a week for myself for the Grand Mayan. I told him that I was a current GM owner. He checked with his supervisor and told me that it was not a problem as a Grand Mayan owner. The prohibition was to prevent Mayan Palace owners from upgrading to the Grand Mayan and not to prevent Grand Mayan owners from doing an exchange. Is this correct? Also, before I was a GM owner, I was a MP owner. Last year,as a MP owner, I banked my week with RCI, then used my banked week to exchange back to the MP and to eventually give the week to my sister for her 60th birthday present. Is this transaction now prohibited? Is my current confirmed RCI points exchange back to the GM now in jeopardy? Your input would be appreciated. Thanks.IP: Logged |

Madge,It must have been a typo because the wording has been changed to the following: "No Sea Garden or Grand Mayan owners are allowed to confirm into this RST ID." Once again, thank you. Cheryl IP: Logged |

BarCol,See my responses below: quote:

You would not be subject to the one-in-four rule, as long as you observed the other resort restrictions. For further clarification about both of these issues, I strongly encourage you to contact Mayan directly. These policies can change.

Reddiablosv, You should have no problem exchanging into a Grand Mayan resort as a Grand Mayan owner. The restrictions apply to Grand Mayan, Mayan Palace, and Sea Garden owners seeking to exchange to one of the other resorts (i.e., GM-to-MP or SG-to-GM) ------------------ ~ Madge IP: Logged |

Please confirm - I do NOT own at Mayan Palace or Grand Mayan.I have confirmed exchanges into Mayan Palace ACA for 12/2005 and Grand mayan ACA for 12/2006. The 1/4 rules for these have unique nonoverlapping resort codes. I don't want to have a problem at checkin in 2006. A VC stated I should be fine. Is this correct? IP: Logged |

Madge, I also do not own at Mayan Palace and have booked a week in Janury 2007 (RCI - 6483). I would like to book a 2nd consecutive week (either the week before or after)- it says the 2nd confirmation must have a GC - so if I pay extra to have the GC I can add another week? as an alternative can I book a week at the Grand Mayan?------------------ David IP: Logged |
