Hi Madge,

Can you explain why I see many more resorts and weeks available
when I do a weeks search on a points account vs the same search on a weeks account.
Shouldn't the inventory be the same ? It is very frustrating when there seems to be inventory available and I am not able to see it on my weeks account.

Thank You
Jim

Wow I am going to take a shot on this and Madge will correct me if I am wrong, but I have been doing alot of points research and I am thinking it may be because points do not have trading power everything is equal with points and weeks is all about trading power. So you may not have enough trading power with your week and the resorts show in the points section as there is no trading power required, if it's there it's yours.

I hope you can understand what I wrote.

Trading power is not the problem. I have very good trading power. It seems there is inventory available to points accounts for weeks resorts that is not there for weeks accounts.
When I called an rci weeks vacation advisor he confirmed the weeks I was seeing on the points account were not in the weeks inventory. He could not explain why.

Jim,

There are two possible reasons I can think of right away. The first is pretty much as mjasp suggested. Since points are charged according to the vacation confirmed, our system doesn't hold a Points search to any specific Trading Power guidelines. However, when the unit is paid back to the Weeks system from the Points system, Trading Power is used to determine an equivalent unit.

The second possibility is that the VEP range is different for the Weeks deposit than for Points. The Points VEP is set at a mid-range, which may allow for more matches than your deposited resort.

However, if you come across another example, please send an e-mail to feedback@rci.com and enter TUG in the subject line. The Communications Team will be glad to look at it for you.

I find the same thing; i.e. more Weeks available when using my Points Account. But I can't say I find it frustrating. Unless the Week you own in Weeks is an RCI Points resort just move it to Points via Points for Deposit and reserve the week you want.
