Dumb Question but I thought I would stick my neck out anyway.

Is there anyway to get a RCI membership withgout actually buying a affliated time share unit? If not what is the cheapest way to get one?

We just backed of a purchase for a unit in wells Maine. I fully realized I have no way of knowing whats going on till we get our feet wet. Bottom line is we live in Maine but enjoy Vegas. I also travel there once a year on Business.

Any reponses are fully welcome.

JR,

RCI does require that there be at least one verified timeshare ownership connected to each RCI membership.

We may make exceptions in cases where existing RCI members no longer own their timeshares. This may be the result of a sale, divorce, or right-to-use years being exhausted. RCI has always believed that timeshare ownership is a key element to participation in the RCI exchange program. It is important that we protect the exclusivity of RCI membership and the use of exchange products like Extra Vacations.

Madge,

What you you say to someone like myself who owns a TS at a company which is associated RCI like HGVC or Club Intrawest. Owners there don't have the option of an independant RCI membership. I like the idea of being able to see for myself what is available on Last Call and Extra Vacation. But I'm unable to search any RCI offering because I must use the Club's counselors.

Bill,

The services that RCI can provide timeshare owners depend upon our agreements with the resorts and clubs. In the cases of Hilton and Club Intrawest, the agreements are very specific with regard to the types of benefits available from RCI and how those benefits will be accessed. Even though this may seem limiting, it is the intention of these clubs to provide more and broader benefits to their owners.
