I'm wondering if I have a unique problem or has this surfaced before now. I'm just returning to the BBS after having been away; time devoted to military service.
I called RCI to 'bank' my week for the Hotel Plaza Tucanes Villas & Resort [5151]. I was told that RCI will not bank this directly and that I must make an International telephone call to the hotel to have the Hotel Staff perform this task.
I was given a number by the RCI folks to call. THEN my nightmare started!
I called the number only to get, what I have learned in Spanish, was a message that the number is out of order.
I have made repeated contacts with RCI and have been given several other numbers to call only to get the same result, that none of the numbers work - all in Spanish and I do not speak Spanish (I had to get a friend to help me).
I found an email address and even sent a message, for which I have had no response.
Would appear now that I will lose my week and RCI refusses to help me on this.
Anyone with an idea about how to get a positive outcome to this situation?

I have one timeshare in Mexico. Each year I call the resort and reserve a week to have them deposit with the exchange company (in my case Interval International). I give the timeshare my credit card info to pay the mtnc fee when I make the reservation (with this particular timeshare, I only have to pay the mntc fee IF I make a reservation). With my S.African timeshare, I also have to contact the resort and have them deposit a week. I suspect it is standard operating procedure to contact your timeshare FIRST and have them make the reservation and corresponding deposit for you. I am afraid I don't see how any of this is RCI's responsibility. Do you have any recent correspondence from your resort that lists a phone number or fax machine? Perhaps you could do a Google search for your resort to see if you find any other contact numbers.

I've had this timeshare for more than a year. In the past all I did (before I departed for ???) was call RCI; they then deposited the week. My RCI account shows that I have a week on deposit from this place (this was done through RCI). All I can guess is that something changed while I was away. I have paid the Annual Maintenance Fee for this place so that's not the issue. I paid 'mtc' before, I departed so that my family would be able to use it if they opted. I mentioned that I have attemtped to contact them by telephone and through the Internet already with no success.
Just don't know what to do; came here looking for other options.
There may be none.

011 52 314 334-1098 or 011 52 314 334-1054. I tried both of these numbers and they both work. It's Saturday, so no one is answering. Try on Monday, as it is not a holiday in Mexico. Hope this helps.

SUCCESS! Sorta. Today (Monday, 30th) I spoke with a staff member on the "1054" number. At least now, I was able to make my request/desire known to deposit the week. Thank you, to Monica, Madge, & all for assistance, patience, response, and understanding. The spirit in this exchange of messages certainly does represent the concept of the "User Group".
