We're flying to HI the last week in Aug. Airfare for Orange County CA to Ohau (spend a few days there) then on to Maui (spend a few days there) then back to OC is right about $750. Does that seem high to you guys?Should I wait? thanks, brad ------------------ Check out my Sporting Clays page, CLICK HERE!! ysr_racer So. Cal. USA IP: Logged |

April 24, we fly Hawaiian LAX to Lihue, via HNL, then May 1 to Maui and return thru HNL to LAX May 8. Full ost for 2 was $1278. Although OC would be easier and better than LAX for us, at the time of reservations, Aloha from OC was considerably higher. If you haven't purchased yet, try the Hawaiian web at http://www.hawaiianair.com. Their site is quite easy to use and look for the 'SuperSaver' fare if available when you want to travel. LAX is the inconvenience for you.IP: Logged |

This past January we flew Hawaiian Air from Sacramento to Lihue via HNL. Then Lihue to Kona. From Kona back to Sacramento via HNL. While the outgoing flight was technically "low" season, the home flight was in the "high" winter season. The cost for two was just under $1200. Had we flown out of San Francisco/Oakland, we could have saved about $150, but the savings to us was not worth the 2 hour drive each way.------------------ Be slow to criticize, quick to compliment. If you have not booked yet Aloha is having a summer sale for Honolulu and Maui....go to the website to see it. But the flights are limited to some red eyes etc. For late August the fares are even cheaper.Unfortunately no sale to the Big Island and I just bit the $761.50 bullet for each of two RT's Orange County to Big Island direct....not worth it to me to go at inconvenient times and via HNL or through LAX....especially with two young kids....oh well its only money. Fortunately we had a two for one cert for another two tickets via Aloha's credit card which averaged under $600 for each. If it was four of us at the full price then we would do LAX which had summer fares same time for $608 on ATA. I guess people are traveling pretty heavy this year....our return flight mid August was almost completely full...maybe five seats left after our booking. ------------------ Grand Pacific Resorts Owners Group Private Group for Grand Pacific Resorts Owners

I was just playing with fares for our trip to Kauai next Feb., and in checking Pleasant Holidays, I found a cheaper rate, flying UAL, and including a rental car. We would only need the car for 3 of the days, but, even reserving it for the required 5 days, it's less than the same air fare alone at the UAL website. $681 each, as opposed to $741. ???------------------ Jean IP: Logged |

Just got a quote for 4 people non-stop LAX to Kona on ATA web site (I am checking as we have friends that may join us)Depart July 24 - Return August 14 Total Cost per ticket $516.74 taxes and fees included. That is close to what Pleasant Holidays was offering on a special in May for summer travel to Kona. I think ATA is a good deal for this time of year. Especially considering our tickets on Aloha out of Orange County same dates averaged $671.24 and that is with a 2 for 1 certificate that I used. The regular airfare was 761.65 and I would have not booked it if it were not for the certificate. We did book two at that price so we could all travel together. I could have saved $617.99 total for our family of four....that is a lot of scratch for the convenience of one day (we are actually returning on Aug 13th and ATA did not have a flight but we could have extended an extra night), FF miles, and using Orange County instead of LAX. If we would have paid the regular fare for four of us out of OC on Aloha it would have been a total of $3046.6 vs. $2,066.96 on ATA and the saving of $979.64. This we would have done for sure if not for the certificate on Aloha and the worry over fares even going higher. We are recommending to our friends who are going to book ATA out of LAX. ------------------ Grand Pacific Resorts Owners Group Private Group for Grand Pacific Resorts Owners IP: Logged |

Airfares are high this summer, especially to popular places like Hawaii. I just purchased our last 2 tickets for a trip to Maui in late July. I've been waiting to see if prices would drop. They aren't going to this year. My brother (Delta pilot) says that with jet fuel costs up and many major airlines losing millions per quarter, airfares are going higher not lower. I just purchased a Hawaiian Air ticket from LAX to OGG for ~$585. We go yearly and this year is the highest fares we've seen from the West Coast in a long time. ------------------ Michelle IP: Logged |
