The biddingfortravel.com site was hacked into 5/31/05. As a result quite a bit of data has been lost especially the historical data. I have heard of another site like this one that helps you make intelligent bids on priceline. Does anyone remember the url for a similar site?

Thanks in advance,

Rita

Richard,

Yes, that's it! Thanks much.

I can't believe how they hacked that site. They are trying to restore their data but seem to be having lots of problems.

Thanks again.

Strange that they would hack it. BFT doesn't sell anything, so there is no credit card info. and little personal info. there. Maybe the hacker thought they sold travel?

The moderator Cheryl has put down many posters and bans people from the site for not using a link she posted that she gets credit for. I wonder if anyone did it because they were mad at her? It's a shame because there was a lot of good information there.

While I agree that biddingfortravel is not a very friendly place - which is why I never post there!! I think the attack was against several boards under the ezboard umbrella, not just that particular site.

But it is too bad, it's a very useful site.

Actually, it wasn't just BFT that has hijacked - it was all of EzBoard, so it may have been completely unrelated to BFT. BFT doesn't have financial info. stored, but I bet some of the other websites on EzBoard do.

BFT was filled with extremely useful information. Even if you didn't post there you could peruse the posting to get a very good idea of what hotels would come up on priceline and for what price. I have used it often in the past to get a much better deal on a 4* and above hotel in places like London and D.C.

I hope they can restore at least some of the information that was readily available to the general public. BetterBidding is good but it does not have the participation that BFT had. Of course, that may change in the near future.

Yes - the hack had nothing to do specifically with BFT. The hacker took out the entire EZBoard community.
