We encountered a problem with the server on which the TUG bbs runs this afternoon (Feb 24, 2005) around 3 pm Eastern US time. This caused the loss of many files from the bbs. Initially this showed as a loss of messages in some forums, but with each additional disk write something else was lost and eventually it took the whole board down.We have restored the board from the most recent server backup (from some time last night, Feb 23). All messages entered between then and the time the board went down are irretrievably lost. Also any changes to user records or new bbs registrations are also lost. The server support folks have been able to trace the cause of the problem and it has been fixed. ------------------ Doug Wilson, "The Makai Guy" Email me TUG Volunteer Coordinator & BBS Administrator My websites: North Shore Kauai and Yellowstone 2003 Photo Gallery IP: Logged |

Gee... and this happened just after I posted a website where a private party was selling his six units at the Manhatten Club for $1500 apiece. I was hoping some TUGGERs could benefit. Oh well, they're gone now. Still, I hope everybody remembers my good deed. What a great guy I am. ------------------ Owner since 1996 (a paltry one) TUG member since 1997 IP: Logged |

Hope somebody tells Madge. She answered a number of questions yesterday. I read at least some of the responses before they "disappeared".Sheila IP: Logged |

Thanks for the "heads up". I've sent her an email. ------------------ Doug Wilson, "The Makai Guy" Email me TUG Volunteer Coordinator & BBS Administrator My websites: North Shore Kauai and Yellowstone 2003 Photo Gallery IP: Logged |

Is there any relationship between the server problem and my getting a lot of time outs? I got a few again yesterday and worry that it might be a precursor to another server problem.IP: Logged |

I don't think so. The problem had to do with disk quotas and an improper server setting. ------------------ Doug Wilson, "The Makai Guy" Email me TUG Volunteer Coordinator & BBS Administrator My websites: North Shore Kauai and Yellowstone 2003 Photo Gallery IP: Logged |
