Considering the purchase of 3500 HGVC points? Does anyone have any idea what this should cost and how well it will work for trading purposes? Thanks Jeff IP: Logged |

In purchasing HGVC it is important to note that the maintenance fees are the same for the same size unit regarless of the points. That is to say the maint fee for a 1 bedroom silver (say 2400 points) and a 1 bedroom plat (4800 points) is the same, yet you can trade the 4800 points for twice the accomodations of the 2400. That said, always try for the Plat weeks on resale. A bargain price would be between $1.00 and $1.25 a point.IP: Logged |

Standard advice here seems to be try to get 5000 (gold season) points...There are others that know more about the resale price than I do...but from what I read here if you could get it for $1 to $1.25 ...that would be an especially great deal...though there is continual discussion HGVC using Right of First Refusal...but I don't remember anyone saying it was used against them in their transaction...though Seth will give good advice if he see's this post...good luck in your search...Rick [This message has been edited by ricoba (edited 10-15-2004).] [This message has been edited by ricoba (edited 10-15-2004).] IP: Logged |

It will trade very well. I have had 2 3500 point contracts taken under right of first refusal. ------------------ Seth My Website IP: Logged |

I bought a silver week (3500) at HGVC seaworld. I didn't go through the onsite sales sharks, I used a corporate sales person. I was able to negotiate $3000 off the price. I had 5 points knocked off the interest rate. HGVC paid my closing costs $550 and I received 5000 bonus points instead of the 1000 onsite sales offers. With all that said I still paid more than resale. I was able to take advantage of HGVC mortgage financing instead of using the equity in my home to pay for the membership. If price is your only consideration and you have that much cash, then resale is absolutely your best bet. IP: Logged |

By a 'corporate' salesperson, do you mean via contacting HGVC directly (possibly via their website)?IP: Logged |

I did fill out the form on the website. I was contacted by a sales person that identified herself as a corporate sales executive. She told me in a later conversation that a friend of mine who purchased at Tuscany has done so through their onsite sales dept and therefore was not intitled to some of the sales incentives that were offered to me, such as closing being paid by Hilton and the 5000 bonus points. She was correct. My friend had to pay her closing and only received 1000 bonus points when she bought. However even though my friend didn't actually refer me because I went through the website, my sales person treated like she did and gave her 5000 bonus points as a referral bonus.I have since referred 2 people and was informed by owner referrals that if either person bought I would recieve 10 points for the referral, 50 points if they book a tour, 150 when they take the tour, and 1000 points if they bought. Corporate sales is absolutely the way to go, if you're buying direct. IP: Logged |

Sweet! Thanks for the info!I just hope that I qualify for all the cool stuff since I took a 'tour' onsite recently. If not, there is always Marriott! IP: Logged |
