Do we have any TUG members who own the Las Vegas Week 51 and Week 52 fixed weeks?

I'm curious as to what you got this year? Did Xmas week owners still get Week 51 even though it did not include Christmas (with check-out on Xmas Eve)? And what did New Years owners get? Week 52 and the option to pay an additional maintenance fee and the use of Week 53 (listed in the HGVC directory as "Week *")? Or just Week 52 and you lose out on New Year's Eve and New Years Day?

Anyone know?

Because week 52 is actually an event week, I would guess that you actually get New Years week 53 and not really week 52 when it falls that way. week 51 is not an event week in vegas, so nothing is automatically booked.

I also think that HGVC owns the extra week in years that a week 53 occurs, they do NOT automatically grant it to week 52 owners. Clearly Event weeks are treated differently in HGVC. They are tied to the actual event and thus move to align.

This is only what I think, based on conversations with HGVC. I might be wrong, but that is the impression that I have been given.

We own New Years week at the HGVC @ the Hilton...There has never been any offer by Hilton to give us week 53 as some places do for leap year....I guess that if I had known about TUG when I bought it I could have negotiated that...but I didn't know about it then so live and learn.

Rick, so you're saying that what you got this year is Week 52 (the week that includes Christmas, but not New Years Day)? Even though you bought New Years week? Or that you were not offered an extra week if you paid an extra maintenance fee?

I did a followup on this to answer my own question == I was told that Week 51 fixed week owners received Week 52; Week 52 owners received Week 53.

Neither were able to use an additional week for payment of maint. fee. The extra week in the year (Week 51) was just added to Club inventory for anyone to use..I believe I was told that it was added as an additional Silver week..

Sandy, At HGVC Flamingo, Week 51 IS AN EVENT WEEK. It was sold {like New Years Week) at a very high PREMIUM price for that fixed week..Week 46 was sold as a fixed week (at a very substantial premium) at HGVC LV Hilton when that was built, after HGVC sales discovered that Comdex week was being totally booked the first day it came up for reservation at Flamingo..

Sorry I didn't follow up....I was away from home when I originally replied....Thanks for this info, I never really questioned the issue re New Years week, though after I purchased I realized that some NY weeks are much better than others...and your answer tells me why

thanks

To those who weren't around when HGVC Flaingo was the only HGVC resort in Vegas, apparently that's the only one that had Week 51 sold at a premium as an event week..

Originally, there were only TWO platinum weeks in Las Vegas - fixed Christmas and fixed New Years, The other weeks that are now designated Platinum were Gold weeks at 5000 points for 2-br. There were also silver and bronze weeks.

Later in the 90's, HGVC decided to have both floating and fixed Platinum weeks to more closely correspond to the seasons and pricing in Orlando. Gold weeks became floating Platinum; silver owners were upped to Gold and bronze week owners now had Silver designation and there were no more bronze weeks in Las Vegas..I think that all happened in either 1997 or 1998..

Thanks for the info GeorgeJ. I was not aware that Hilton was able to change weeks from Gold to Plat. Etc. I just assumed that the color & number of points were determined initially when the units were being sold, and would always remain the same.

Pronkster, since these were increases in point values, there were no objections in them doing it...

I believe this was the only time they have changed seasons..
