I noticed that people are disappointed with the "new" Redweek.com. What did they do before that everybody liked so much? Can TUG do it this right way?------------------ Lee Boylan IP: Logged |

From someone who uses many resale/rental sites, I personally find the Redweek site more user friendly. I like the layout of the rentals and resales(I can search by specific resort very easily) and I like the fact that ads are placed immediately. I do not like the fact any longer that most ads are now generic and you have to spend time sending multiple emails to owners to see if a particular week is available. These are the first things that come immediately to mind. Cindy IP: Logged |

Redweek IS easy to use. But you have to pay to see the actual listings. A casual browser wouldn't do that. I didn't pay for a membership until I got serious about buying.I thought the chief complaint was the fee change? IP: Logged |

Hopefully... If and when Tug changes to new software and a new BBS. They will have a better more user friendly resale site. I would much rather give Tug my business, but the technology of the classified is very outdated. ------------------ Grand Pacific Resorts Owners Group Private Group for Grand Pacific Resorts Owners IP: Logged |

TUG has one BIG advantage over Redweek which is that they list multiple location, point based, vacation clubs like Worldmark and Club Intrawest. Red week has a few listed here and there under the many different club locations. Very Bad ;-(------------------ Bill IP: Logged |

Redweek was a run-away winner and a TUG favorite when it first kicked off.I ran ads at the same time on TUG and Redweek and Redweek knocked TUG dead. We got 2 1/2 weeks sold and only had one EOY left when Redweek changed their format. We have cussed and discussed it, even involving some Redweeks management in our discussions, but they insist on charging their customers to shop. Even Wal*Mart would have a hard time doing that! Activity on our ad stopped immediately when the pay-to-shop policy started, and we wound up donating the last one to the German Language School. Even craft shows are finding it hard to charge customers to come in and shop--finally! I was a registered user on Redweek but have not been there since. Added: But as far as any one site being competition for or replacing any one other site, that's pretty far-fetched. When you do a google search for "Timeshares for sale" you get: "Results 1 - 10 of about 1,330,000 for timeshares for sale" (That's fodder for another discussion--the prolific number of timeshares for sale or rent on the Internet--something the industry seems to have their head in the sand about. A casual glance into this for some resorts suggests that there is more availability on the Internet than through the exchange companies, many at pricing close to or lower than annual fees, and the same units at the same resorts are being offered for sale for a fraction of retail.) This should also be a hint to Redweek, that there are plenty of free places to shop for timeshares, but they know that and it hasn't changed them. ------------------ 16 years timesharing/80 exchanges/Branson-Table Rock Lake boat rides Interests: Buying/Selling/Renting/Donating/Exchanging/Searching Florida/Kauai/SOCAL/Colorado/Missouri/Arkansas/Iowa/Ohio Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Priceline/Hotwire/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living

I like the user interface of redweek a lot, but I think www.myresortnetwork.com gets a lot more traffic b/c people don't have to pay to see the listings.IP: Logged |

I like the layout of redweek but I think charging membership fees to access contact information in a market that is overrun with resales will work against the ongoing success of redweek. With that said, I joined redweek in April to gain the contact info on a week that I ended up buying. It was a week I wanted, at an unbelieveable price. So I guess there are exceptions ------------------ Emily IP: Logged |

We use redweeks, myresortnetwork, bidshares, tug and our own site, along with Ebay. While the inquiries on redweek have dropped since they started charging the customer to make contact, we close more units with them than the others combined. We get lots of " action" from myresortnetwork, and we have had the same problem that some one mentioned with bidshares on rentals. Several bids have been placed that I had to cancel as they thought it was a sale rather than a rental. So, while we continue to use all, www.redweeks.com gets most of our advertising dollars.
