Hi, Can anyone tell me if they have bought a resale not from the developer and what benefits you miss out on. We went to the "talk" and the lady mentioned not being part of the Wilson Club and not getting discounts. Is this true ? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks IP: Logged |

This topic is regularily discussed here. The overwhelming consensus is that it is not worth buying from the developer for the limited perks you receive. You can save 40% off (or more)the purchase price buying resale. Take a look here and on ebay and you'll see units at Orange Lake for sale.IP: Logged |

Mgard,First realize that what the salesrep who is 100% accurate and never distorts or misshapes the truth accounts for probably 10% of the timeshare salesreps you will ever meet in one of those 90 minute high pressure presentations. At least that’s my experience in attending 30+ presentations. I can’t specifically answer your question concerning OLCC but as a resale owner you can still benefit from: • Vacationing for the week and unit and building that you bought into. • Exchanging your week in RCI for other weeks in RCI • Renting out your week to someone else and pocketing the money Beyond that you would have to get a list of specific items that ONLY accrue to sales direct from OLCC and see if these differences are worth the HUGE difference between the developer’s price and a resale price. The correct list of differences will NOT come from the salesrep - you must get them here or other places. Normally this difference in price is so large that the added benefits just aren’t worth it. But only you can make this determination. Perry IP: Logged |

When you find out, please post them here. I am an owner that purchased from the developer and would like to know if I gained anything from not buying resale. I don't think that I did other than being able to pick the week and unit - which if I had it to do over again would have done a better job of it.IP: Logged |

I am looking at our Wilson Travel Disclosure Statement. Basically it states that the Club gives you golf discounts, and access to advanced reservation times, and that any other travel related discounts maybe added from time to time. Memberships are not transferable by members. ------------------ Tony IP: Logged |

You are a member of the Wilson Travel Club if you own ANY unit at OLCC. All you need to do is go to owner services to pick up your membership card. Ownership has its privileges...IP: Logged |

I can't speak for owners of newer units, but all owners of phase 1 units (golf villas, other members of HOA #1), are automatically members of Wilson CLub. Those benefits were sold as part of the original package. This includes discounts, usa of the facilities outside of ownership week, etc.More recently, sales at the resort have included Wilson Travel Club as a perk. I honestly don't know what they do if you buy a resale of one of those unitsbut the website says: quote: When you became an Orange Lake owner, you also became a charter member of the Wilson Travel Club, which entitles you to a number of exclusive benefits. You enjoy discounts on everything from resort amenities to rental rates.

as an OL owner, regardless of whether you buy from the developer or resale....your owner benefits are exactly the same. We all get resort discounts, special owner rates for bonus vacations at OL, etc.------------------ Vickie IP: Logged |

On the topic of OL resale. Is there any way to find out what section (East, West, North village, etc.) a unit number is in? I went to the OL website as a visitor and could not find a resort map with unit numbers. Like Vistana has.IP: Logged |

Bill...yes there's a way. If you are in negotiations, you can always call the resort and ask for location, or I'm happy to assist from here on the board. ------------------ Vickie IP: Logged |

Also, Bill, there's a map in the reviews section on this site (though it's not totally up to date for the newer East Village buildings).
