Hi, Randy....Los Cabos (San Jose)is where the airport is located, It's about a 45 minute ride through The Corridor into Cabo San Lucas. There is another little town in San Jose, but it is much less developed than Cabo. It's also much more quiet, and a favorite of a lot of fishermen. The action seems to be in Cabo San Lucas. There are also many hotels lining the Corridor between the two capes, so it isn't an easy choice. If you stay in town, you really don't need a car, but it can be very noisy at night. We prefer being in, or close to town, but every place has its own charm. I hope this helps.------------------ Jean IP: Logged |

I've always understood it to be this way: San Jose del Cabo is the town where the airport is located. Cabo San Lucas is a separate town south of San Jose del Cabo. The two towns, along with the corridor in between them, are referred to as Los Cabos. But, whatever you call it, it's a fun place to be. IP: Logged |

Hi,Was at the Westin this past March. San Jose is an old mexican town and has a distinct charm to it. There are only 2-3 north & south blocks to walk where the shops are and perhaps 1 block E & West where many restaurants are. If you prefer more action you will find that in Cabo San Lucas. Your best bet, IMHO, is to rent a car and travel the corrider between the two towns. Cab fare is far to expensive. About $28 ea way from the Westin to Cabo. IP: Logged |

We just got back from Cabo San Lucas on Saturday. Stayed at the Hacienda del Mar (along "The Corridor") so feel free to shoot me any questions. Los Cabos is just the general area of the Baja they are in (kinda like SoCal, not really a town, but a general descriptor). San Jose del Cabo is the town closest to the airport, much quieter and laid back. Cabo San Lucas is the party town. The area referred to as the Corridor is really all of the extra space between the two towns that a lot of resorts have been built on. Depends on what you want for a first time trip. I personally would not stay in SJC because it is a bit too slow and nothing to do, even on a relaxing vacaton. But that is what some people are after. The partying in CSL was overrated to me, but the town itself is great for shopping, hanging out, drinking, dinner.....awesome vacation for us.... IP: Logged |

Thanks for your input on Cabos, I think I would rather be where it is a little more active just as you would.Sincerely Randy Neshem IP: Logged |
