It’s with a sad heart that I watch Street Talk go the way of the dinosaur – into extinction.(Please see my later post) The link is: www.thetimesharebeat.com/word.htm this is their last blog. I read Street Talk every day and learned a lot from “the other side” (the dark side?). It was very enlightening to read the mentality of our opponent – the professional timeshare developer salesrep. What did them in (in my opinion) was honesty – it rocked the boat at “The Timeshare Beat”. The truth that we all know about their industry came to light just too many times. Many of the salesreps confirmed our suspicions about developers and professional timeshare developer sales reps. Many of their own kind commented that it was hard to go to work each day and con////sell Ma and Pa Kettle out of so much money for so little. So farewell to all those honest salesreps who had the guts and decency to tell the truth. I for one will miss that honesty. My favorite quote from the average developer salesrep was that they were just “putting food on the table for their families”. (In addition to a new BMW, a condo at Atlantis, private schools for the kids, etc.) I seem to remember a similar quote from the Enron folks who were just doing the same thing. Perry

Perry, I agree and I have said so in an email to them. Interesting remarks here from people who love to see her go or stay. Andrea Hackman's off topic remarks should be read by all people, who go on their first timeshare presentation. She referred to this link: http://www.seacoastonline.com/news/dover/05272005/news/44397.htm Good information! ------------------ Emmy A picture is worth a thousand words. http://www.picturetrail.com/iconnections/ IP: Logged |

What a terible, generic article- geesh- you'd think they would at least include the recission clauses to educate folks and that is not even mentioned. And how odd- that town/newspaper is right where I live and I found the info here! I have half a mind (no comments please) to right a good article for them. LyndaIP: Logged |

Good news indeed. The Timeshare Beat and Street Talk help give owners some balance to the strong developers. I'm very glad to see it continue and maybe even improve. ------------------ John Chase Use Email Icon above for contact address IP: Logged |

I would hesitate to say that the developer is the opponent. For every developer that engages in high pressure, fraudulent or unethical practics, there are others that offer a high quality product in a low pressure setting and then manage the resorts well after that. While resale prices will almost always be lower than the developer prices, when was the last time a reseller brought a new resort to the market?IP: Logged |

Can you please provide 1 example of a developer that offered a "high quality product in a low pressure setting and then manage the resorts well after that"? I recognize that timeshares wouldn't exist if Developers didn't exist. But I disagree with you that this would be a bad thing. Don't get me wrong, I love timeshares, and utilize them to a great extent. But I (like many other people here on TUG) do so on the backs of poor suckers who subsidize it.
