My youngest son is a huge Yankees fan. We will be in NYC this summer...and I'd like to get tickets to a game. I've been on their web site...but have no clue as to the quality of the seats. There will be at least 3 of us attending the game....do I try for the more expensive seats...or are the cheaper seats (higher levels) a good buy for the money? I don't expect us to be "down front"....in fact, I prefer being "higher up". However, if the "cheap seats" offer obstructed/no view.....I will try for something more expensive. Just trying to budget my money for a trip to NYC....I know everything costs mucho $$$. Also, if anyone has suggestions for which area of the stadium to request (left field/right field line, behind home plate, etc.). Thanks.DEB IP: Logged |

Hi Deb, there are almost no obstucted views in Yankee Stadium- particularly if you are in the upper decks. As a rule of thumb- Section 1 is right behind Home plate and they go up from there- Section 2, 4, 6 even numbers are up 3rd base line into left field Sections 3,5, 7 and up are 1st base line and right field. If you go to Yankees.com, they have an interactive setion in the Stadium/Ticket section where they actually have little photos that show you the view from any particular seat area. "Tier" is the top level. If you can get Tier Boxes between section 1-20, you will be up, but a great view of the whole stadium. After that, is Tier Reserved- the higher the Letter(Row A, B, C, etc) the more likely you are to get a nosebleed! If heights is an issue- avoid higher than G or H Bleachers are the cheapest seats- they are behind the outfield, but the regulars in the bleachers "Bleacher Creatures" we call them, are entertainment on their own. You can't really see much but the out fielders, but can be a fun experience. We are season ticket holders and I know the Stadium very well. If you tell me what seats are available for the dates you are looking at, I can advise which will give you a better view. For really good seats, most are already presold as Season Tickets and can only be bought second hand thru Ebay or Stub Hub or Scalpers. No Matter where you sit, you will not only see the game, experience the fun of baseball in NY but also get a chance to see Yankee Stadium, which is a classic ballpark. Make sure you get there early enough to go to Monument Park(that is inside the Stadium all the way out in Left Field). Plan to take the Subway if you are staying in Manhattan- it is a really easy ride and just follow the crowds with NY hats on. Feel free to email me with any questions Susan IP: Logged |

I would not get the bleacher seats - you really don't see much from there. I would rather buy high up but behind the bases where the seats are reasonably priced and you get a good view of the action. As well, watch the scalpers - most are ethical but some will literally 'run' away with your money without handing you the tickets. I know first hand of this happening last year - my son's baseball coach wanted to buy tickets for the game (the team along with some parents were in NY for a tournament) but the game was all sold out so the coach negotiated a price outside of the stadium and then gave the scalper the money without first getting the tickets. The scalper literally ran off with the money (around $500) without giving the coach the tickets. Luckily the coach went to the police who are always around the stadium and after searching in vain for the scalper with the police, the police basically told the other scalpers to pool their money and refund the coach. The coach got the money back and then renegotiated with the 'head' scalper for new tickets (of course these were a bit more expensive). In this case the scalper gave the coach all of the tickets except for one (the coach chose this ticket from the tickets that he had 'bought') - the coach then distributed the remaining tickets and remained outside with the scalper. When everyone was inside the stadium one of the parents called the coach on the cell phone to say that the tickets were all legitimate and at this point in time the coach gave the scalper the money ($600) and the scalper gave him the last ticket so that the coach could also get in. There is even honor among scalpers!IP: Logged |

That was a great way to resolve the problem! I agree with the above poster about the crowd at a Yankee game being a big part of the entertainment. We went to a game a couple of years ago and I can't even remember what team the Yankees were playing, but the whole experience was so much fun. IP: Logged |

I did go on the Yankees website...thanks for the info re: seat cams. There seems to be quite a variety of tickets available for the game date I am interested in. Prices ranged from $40-45 for "loge box" seats (either 3rd base/left field line area, or 1st base/right field line area) or the "cheaper" tier seats (from $16-19). Nothing was coming up for seats behind home plate. I'm just waiting for confirmation for my dates at the MC (renting from someone for 2 nights) before I commit to buying the game tickets. I can take the subway from near the MC straight to the stadium, correct? If we go for batting practice, would we have a chance of getting autographs?DEB IP: Logged |

Deb-Go for the Loge seats if you can get those. They are under cover, so if it rains you are out of the rain. Also out of the direct sun on a hot summer day. I have been going to The Stadium for over 50 years and always prefer Loge seats. I agree, Loge seats are better and worth the # As for Autographs, I am not even sure if they will let you in early enough for Yankee Batting Practice, but it is worth a try- get there VERY EARLY! As for the visiting team- it really depends on the individual players but again, Worth a try.for the Subway from MC- Take the B or D train- Make sure to check if they are stopping at 161 St- it changes depending upon weekday or weekend and Rush Hour or Not. Again, on game day, there are always lots of fans on the train going to the same place as you and New Yorkers are helpful and friendly. Susan IP: Logged |

Which do you think is better to go to: a day or night game? What about safety returning back to the MC on the subway after a night game? I'm going the last week of June.IP: Logged |

The subway will be full of fans after the game--I wouldn't worry unless you end up with a bunch of drunks, but even they tend to be harmless. Obnoxious, but harmless.------------------ we are all angels with one wing. It is when we help each other that we truly fly. IP: Logged |

Subway no problem after the game, except you might want to hang around for 20-30 minutes and look in the shops. This gives time for the masses of people to catch a train and leave. then by the time you are trying to get on a train, you don't get squashed.Patty ------------------ It’s these changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes Nothing remains quite the same With all of our running and all of our cunning If we couldn’t laugh we would all go insane - Buffett IP: Logged |

We go to Yankee stadium lots and have always felt safe either day or night game- subway close and always lots of people around game time- kind of ads to the entire experience. We have 2 teens- who love the bleacher seats- we bring binoculers from home. It is alcohol free section and I like that-esp when kids were younger. We have sat in much better seats for better viewing but w/4 of us can't always afford it. Yankee stadium is great about letting you bring food in as long as in clear bags and no bottles or cans- we freeze juice boxes- bring sandwiches and boxes keep them cold- You will love yankee stadium- no matter where you sit - enjoyIP: Logged |

"If you go to Yankees.com, they have an interactive setion in the Stadium/Ticket section where they actually have little photos that show you the view from any particular seat area."Can't seem to access this from this website....I can see the layout of the stadium and the little magnifying glass but when I click on it ....nothing. Looking at two different dates now (back to back)...to see which has the best seats. My son prefers to be along first base side....and on 7/27, I can get MVP reserved, sect.621. The view (according to the interactive site) looks decent. I know we probably won't be able to get much closer...unless I risk buying 2 sets of 2 tickets...but don't want to worry about being "separated" from my kids.DEB IP: Logged |

Where are you looking for seats? On the Yankees web site? If you want to pay a bit more, try Ebay or Stubhub.com. The MVP boxes you mentioned have a good view, but are on the top level. Good Luck susanIP: Logged |

I ended up buying 4 seats in section 623 (row A). As it was, they were $45 per seat. I know I could've found closer seats on ebay....but was not willing to pay the high prices. My son is just thrilled that we are actually going to a game.....and the view from the seats (according to the interactive website) looks excellent. Thanks for all your help.DEB IP: Logged |
