We're over here for Spring break and checked out the newly built indoor swimming pool and outdoor hot tub. They are both packed with adults and children all day and night. This will be the first year of full use and I already see there will be a lot of overcrowding during the summer season. I wonder what will happen with the vacationers who can't get to use the pool when everybody all jumps in.------------------ "Stop me before I buy again!" IP: Logged |

I belong to two homeowners associations at CMV. The one in the golf estates (the lot you took pictures of) has been very vocal about complaining about the size of the pool and the amenities not being what was promised. I have received several communications to that effect. The officers in the other association are too snobby to use any facilities at the mountain, and don't complain about anything. I won't be back to see it for awhile, but I expect it will be packed during spring break, weekends, christmas vacation and any day in summer that the weather isn't nice enough to be at an outdoor pool. I can tell you what we discovered many years ago. People from Florida (which is Bluegreen's corporate honchos), do not understand how much people from the midwest want to use pools. this is because most of them have them in their backyards and don't use them that often. They don't understand that on a vacation people in Wisconsin want to use a pool. Another mistake I think they made is that by including a slide, they have to have a lifeguard on duty. When they covered the big pool in the campground section from Sept thru May, they found it too difficult and expensive to keep the lifeguard on duty all the time. So they didn't have it open that many hours. Also they had no place for clothes so it was inconvenient to use the pool. From what I understand there are not enough locker facilities at the pool. I think they are repeating mistakes of the past. Also several of the managers have quit or been fired. We do not know what to expect when we return home. My husband is getting concerned over whether to spend more money building on our lot with the current attitude of Bluegreen.------------------ rapmarks IP: Logged |

Pat,There has been a lot happening at Christmas Mountain Village since the last time we were there (which was last summer, 2004) that surprises us. First of all there is a "concierge" at the reservation desk. We joked about the need for concierge services, i.e. obtaining tickets to hard-to-get Tommy Barlett Water Shows or Noah's Ark admission passes. We're not talking about New York city, are we? Well, Bluegreen must have something in mind when they create a concierge for users. Second, the use of a box to drop your accommodations keys so you don't have to wait in line to check-out. As long as they have your credit card on file when you check-in, you can check-out any time you want by just dropping the keys in the box. I don't know if they have a system of reading the electronic keys to determine which room was checking out. Third, when we make our future reservations we will not be given the room number. We were told the resort itself will determine what room to give us when we check-in. One of our reservations was made before this policy was implemented and when we checked in we were given another room, albeit closer to our other reservation. This worked out well this time, but what happens when the resort places two rooms at opposite ends of the resort at check-in? This is not a small resort so walking from one end to the other is very, very inconvenient. ... and Fourth, I noticed our maintenance fees did NOT increase this year from last year. Putting everything together I figure Christmas Mountain is going on a huge expansion plan (the Fourth observation shows me Bluegreen is buying owners' silence when the growth problems surface later) and they've geared up for it on the management side. ------------------ "Stop me before I buy again!" When I visited CMV in February the pool was a buzz of activity, you know the pre teen type. I was looking forward to using the new pool but after seeing how small it was and the number of people in it, I decided that was not for me. I think they have limited hours early in the morning and late at night for adults only. I guess my expectations were set too high.IP: Logged |

They have had a concierge desk in the past. Thinly diguised body snatcher to register you for tours. will probably only be on duty during check in times. ------------------ rapmarks IP: Logged |

I agree with what you wrote. The pool itself is not small, but for the number of visitors to the resort I know it will be too small and it will be packed!!!! We're talking about Wisconsin Dells, the home of the indoor/outdoor water parks. If visitors to Christmas Mountain expect a large enough indoor pool that mimics an indoor water park on lilliputian levels, they will be sadly disappointed. It's hardly large enough to hold the visitors now, during the spring season and in advance of the summer vacationing period. ------------------ "Stop me before I buy again!" IP: Logged |

So, they used the concierge-in-waiting-routine, again, heh? Well, I do recall the concierge was pretty tenacious about getting us to an owner's "update" meeting. We at first politely declined, and when the discussion became a bit louder we then used other tactics to remove ourselves from the tentacles of the evil concierge.

The concierge will try to get the residents to go to the update too. Then the sales staff will kick them out. Now this is a really poor marketing technique, kick out the people who have invested $250,000 and up in the Mountain. Friends who own the Timbers and a lot were kicked out as soon as the sales manager heard they owned a lot. When we all saw her in the bar later she was quite embarrassed that she had kicked them out when they owned a Timbers. We are not eligible for gifts and I guess we are not allowed to know about the vacation club either.------------------ rapmarks IP: Logged |

This is pretty much what I posted in January. It was pretty much standing room only. There were piles of clothes everywhere since they ran out of lockers. Just think what will happen when they add all those new units.IP: Logged |

I guess a $1 million assessment doesn't go as far as it once did.

I had forgotten how much that rebuilt pool cost us. Thanks for the reminder. AND this is after the insurance settlement paid to the resort after the previous building burnt down. Makes me wonder why they underinsured and saved on the premiums. ------------------ "Stop me before I buy again!" IP: Logged |

Why not, they've got us, and we're rich, remember?

I thought the new bulding was "bigger and better." That's the reason for the assessment.------------------ rapmarks IP: Logged |
