I have a favor to ask of any harborside owner. We really want to go to Atlantis and will probably never be able to trade into it. I would like to go there and possibly buy at the resort if it's as nice as I think it will be. The problem is, the regular room rates are just too expensive, and they don't offer any discounts for going to their timeshare presentations.

HOWEVER, they said if we know someone who owns there, they can then send an invitation for a stay at Harborside at a big discount. So...is anyone willing to refer us to Atlantis so we can get that discount?

I can get you a free stay in Vegas if you're interested in that? Or you could just do it to be really really nice.

I'm not an owner but rented from one for our trip last spring. Private rentals, although expensive, are much more reasonable than direct through the resort.

I will do that if I have to, but sometimes they have deals if you go specifically for a timeshare tour--that's what I'm hoping for. We stayed for a week at the Maui Mariott a few years ago for $300 once by doing that. It was a deal! Atlantis has some owner referral deal, but I'm not sure what it is. Hopefully I'll find out.

You may want to post this (or move the thread??) in the Hotel Based Timeshare section. There are many Starwood owners who read those posts daily.

We are trying for Atlantis as well -summer of 2006- is there a private rental site or way to get invited to timeshare presentation?

Speaking of Starwood owners.... I called Starwood yesterday to see if we could use Starpoints for Atlantis, and they said that Starwood doesn't own Atlantis, so you can't use Starpoints for it. WHAT?! But at the timeshare presentation for Westin kaanapali they made such a big deal about trading internally and specifically mentioned Atlantis as an internal trade. But if you can't use your starpoints for it, how could you ever trade in? What the...?

jenningspaige:

Starwood and Harborside (the actual name of the timeshare, not the Atlantis) have an agreement on the timeshare property (so internal SVN trades are possible), but it doesn't suprise me you can't use Starwood Starpoints (their hotel program)at the Atlantis hotel, as it is not affiliated with Starwood.

StarPoints and StarOptions are completely different. If you buy at Westin Ka'anapali, you'll have StarOptions, which allow you to trade internally for Harborside and all of the other VO properties. StarPoints are separate, and used for staying at Starwood Hotel properties. If you check the advice section on this Board, you'll find a detailed description of how Starwood works.

They do offer a deal through an owner referral - $749 for 5 nights at the hotel, plus they give you $100 in hotel gift certificates, and all you have to do is the TS presentation for harborside. We're taking it! You can book up to 12 months in advance. Thank you for the referral, Anthoney. I'd be hard pressed to get the money to pay to stay there without your help

Sounds like a deal! I'd like to look into this. Jennings, can you tell me how to contact Anthoney? Or Anthoney, if you're reading this, can you email me?

I have stayed at Atlantis hotel several times and love it. I just wanted to let you tuggers know another option for getting a decent rate. If you are gamblers and have a players card and are a fairly regular player in any casino, you can go through the casino marketing at Atlantis and possibly get a few nights free or the casino rate. I have done this and received 3 nights free going in and the casino rate for the additional nights, they will also comp the rest of the nights possibly after you are there depending on your play (which they expect alot of). I have had some sucess in getting additional nights and meals paid for on some occasions and nothing on others. Maybe this will help some of you to get to go to Atlantis, because it is a beautiful place.

When we were there in February, my nephew made friends with a little boy who was staying with his family in a super-deluxe suite in the Royal Towers, free food, free everything for the whole party. His grandfather was a high roller. To qualify for that top of the line treatment, he had to commit to a minimum bet of $75/hand for five hours every day. The guy was an engineer for the other 51 weeks of the year. I hope he knew what he was doing!

There is a Comfort Inn (or Suites) directly across the street from the Atlantis. Not fancy but comfortable with a free continental breakfast and you have full use of Atlantis facilities if you stay there. Much cheaper but not as fancy as Atlantis.

The Comfort Suites is the one across the street from the Coral Towers. The Comfort Inn is in downtown Nassau and does not include access to Atlantis. We stayed at the Comfort Suites for a few days before our week at Harborside. It's not the lap of luxury, but it was fine for us.

I believe both the Beach and the Coral Towers were formerly part of Merv Griffin's Paradise Island Resort (?), and as such, are maybe going on 20+ years old. I took a peek inside a CT room while walking to the computers in the library, and it didn't look anything worth writing home about.

You're a little closer to the Atlantis action, but unless you get a room with a water view, or want to be near something specific (ie Camp Discovery in the CT), it might be cost effective to stay in the Comfort Suites. I can't imagine those rooms could be much worse.

When we stayed at the Comfort Suites (February), the AAA and the internet users rate was around $250/night. So the Explorer package is pretty good in comparison. Plus you get the StarPoints. But the CS might be cheaper at other times of the year.

Is it easy to get a referral to Harborside. Is it possible to get one that could be used this summer? Thanks in advance.
