A couple of years ago, we bought a timeshare at Liki Tiki Village near Disney that is part of their Club Navigo. Now we are interested in trading within their system to use an all inclusive resort in the Caribbean as part of our beginning retirement trip in June 2006. The resorts are:
Occidental Allegro Jack Tar Puerto Plata
Occidental Allegro Playa Dorada
Occidental Grand Flamenco Puerto Plata
Occidental Grand Flamenco Punta Cana
Occidental Grand Pineapple Beach - Antigua
Occidental Grand Aruba.

As we are planning for this, we would like to know if anyone has comments on these resorts.

We welcome all opinions.

Thanks

Can't help too much as I've never stayed in an Occidental, and the only location you mention which I've been to is Aruba, which is very nice.

Did you check the reviews?

I've stayed at several Occidentals, but none of those you mentioned. Have stayed at the Jack Tar St. Kitts, the Allegro Cozumel (5 times) and the Allegro Turks and Caicos (now defunct.) Occidental was formerly known as Allegro. Occidentals are well-known for a consistently good product.

We stayed in Puerto Plata several years ago. Jack Tar is in the same complex as the timeshare we stayed in. There are 4 or 5 timeshares and they are all fenced in together.
Jack Tar was the only one with a small casino. It also had a golf course.
If we were to go there again I would stay at Jack Tar. It was very nice.

I own at the Aruba Occidental. It is a great place. They are undergoing a renovation and will reopen at the beginning of next year. So next year would be a great time to go! They are building two new restaurants. The location can't be beat, right in the middle of it all on Palm Beach. The weather is always great too.
