Having stayed at the Playa Linda we realize that the resort has been around for many a year. Has anyone stayed in one of the Lanai suites - I understand these are completely refurbished units or am I misinformed?I ask because we are looking to pick up a winter week in Aruba and other than the Marriott which I suspect will be too expensive this is the only one we know. We didn't see the units at The Divi Phoneix so can't comment on those. We like this end of the island and enjoyed walking between the resorts and trying out the various casinos and restaurants - it was great to be able to walk to them all - another negative for the Marriott is that it's a bit distant from that stretch. I own Lanai 58 in week 11. They are beautiful and half of them are brand new and the other half a just a few years old. The are actually bigger than the one bedrooms there. If you have an specific questions, please feel free to email me. Chris IP: Logged |

Nice - that's the end unit looking out on the beach isn't it?Do you know if there is much of a resale market for these suites or is it strictly from the developer at this point? I've been reading the PL forum BTW. The site states there is only one 2BR suite but the picture makes it look like there's at least 5. And these are only ground floor units - is that correct? Any thoughts on what a reasonable price might be for a 2 BR unit? IP: Logged |

Yes, it's one of 2 end units...the other is Lanai 59, which is also a one bedroom. The isn't much of a resale at this point. I think they are too new yet and people haven't begun to turn them around yet. There is only one 2 bedroom unit on the poolside...but on the other side (and yes, they are all ground floor units) there are 2 I believe. Even the one bedrooms on the Holiday Inn side I believe were built with 2 bathrooms....these are the newest units built. The 2 bedroom units sold thru the resale office during Jan-Mar, are going for about $25K. I paid (in 2001) $11.5K for my end one bedroom unit and now they want $14K for Lanai 44 which is next to the end unit on my side furest back from the beach. IP: Logged |

Winter weeks at Playa Linda may not be as high as Marriott but will not be cheap. I have been looking to buy more winter weeks at Playa Linda for the past three years and recently purchased a week 11 studio. One and two BR weeks that I have made offers on have been too high for me but I keep looking. Aruba Phoenix weeks can be bought for a lot less but they are RTU and will expire where Playa Linda is sold in perpetuity. ------------------ Larry IP: Logged |
