Am wondering if I'm reading this correctly. If I stayed at one of the Mayan Palace resorts and won't be able to go to another in 4 years? Is this correct? Thanks IP: Logged |

Mayan Palace allows exchange once in 4 years, but they do not strictly enforce this rule. It dependes on how many units they have open. Worth a try to exchangeIP: Logged |

What happens if you pull the exchange and let's say you were there last year, can they refuse you? Would hate to be stranded....IP: Logged |

This is my understanding of the 1-in-4 rule as it applies to the Mayan Palace resorts. Mayan Palace weeks are deposited by both individual owners and by the developer. Weeks deposited by individual owners are assigned a different resort ID # than weeks deposited by the developer. For weeks deposited by individual owners, the 1-in-4 rule is resort-specific. For weeks deposited by the developer, the rule applies to all Mayan resorts. This makes sense to me because the developer wants as many different people as possible to attend the timeshare presentations. Based on what I've learned on TUG, even if your exchange is confirmed, you theoretically could arrive and not be allowed to check-in.Edited to add: However, the 1-in-4 rule is not enforced for owners. Thanks for the clarification. So, would you know by the number which you were being offered? Would a VC be able to tell you? I would really hate to spend the $1500 it costs us to get there to be turned away. IP: Logged |
