Mayan Palace weeks are deposited by both individual owners and by the developer. Weeks deposited by individual owners are assigned a different resort ID # than weeks deposited by the developer. For weeks deposited by individual owners, the 1-in-4 rule is resort-specific. For weeks deposited by the developer, the rule applies to all Mayan resorts. This makes sense to me because the developer wants as many different people as possible to attend the timeshare presentations. Based on what I've learned on TUG, even if your exchange is confirmed, you theoretically could arrive and not be allowed to check-in.
