Can any one recommend a good cenote tour in the Cancun area. Something reasonably safe with lots to see. IP: Logged |

Brant Boston currently Has a ATV and Cenote tour. http://www.entertainment-plus.net/tour_AtvSnorkelCenote.cfm I did this Cenote snorkle tour at Hidden worlds thru Brant a couple years ago but you have to check with him if its still offered. http://www.entertainment-plus.net/amazing_snorkel.html Or try one of the other tour companies: http://www.cancuncd.com/m_cancun_tours/tour_snorkel_caves.html You could also just drive to Hidden Worlds: http://www.dosojos.com/ One thing I will tell you is the fancy color advertising photos they use are deceptive. Its dark and colorless for the most part and you use dive lights to see rock formations and not much else. There are only small colorless fish that you will see in the Cenotes. there were also few bats flying around in the cenotes and this really scared a couple girls on our tour. My wife and daughter said it was interesting and glad they did it its just not something they would want to do again.

If you don't like the underground river experience at Xcaret you most likely won't enjoy the Cenotes. They are both dark and the water is cool and they are both underground but Its much different experience than the Underground river at Xcaret. One of the cenotes at Hidden worlds is in the middle of the jungle and you come to a small opening in the ground with a metal ladder you climb down into the cave. There is a small wooden dock at the bottom and water all around you. You have dive lights you use when snorkling or diving. The cenotes are natrual water filled underground caverns compared to the partial man made underground river at Xcaret.
