In the hopefully unlikely event of a medical issue, can I feel good about travelling to a city with an AmeriMed clinic (PV, Cabo, Cancun)? Has anyone had to use one and if so how was the experience? I'm specifically thinking about Nuevo Vallarta for next spring break, my 4yo has diabetes and should be fine but we do not feel comfortable travelling to a place without a good medical facility. thanks for any help IP: Logged |

My wife was injured in P.V. last year and went to the clinic at the marina. She was taken right in, x-rayed, treated, and released in about two hours and it only cost less than 300.00. The whole experience was actually better than any e.r. I've been to.IP: Logged |

A dear friend of ours had a strokein Puerto Vallarta was rushed to hospital and received all care with modern equipment and English speaking staff. He recovered quickly, was back at the resort with his wife and friends to enjoy the rest of their vacation. Used cane for walking.I have confidence in medicalcare available-even from the "House" physicians at resorts. ------------------

Amerimed - A few years ago, our friend's wife was thrown from a horse in the Sierra Madres outside of PV. She was evacuated off the mountain and admitted to Ameri Med near the Marina. she had a concussion and was kept in the ICU overnight. Treatment was excellent and the facility was spotless. She was able to return home for further treatment and recovery.San Javier Marina Hospital - last year. my wife broke her foot in PV. We returned to the Krystal and once we determined that she had a problem, we went to San Javier which is across the street and a little north of the Krystal. Emergency room was spotless, care was outstanding and they provided a translated copy of the bill as well as instructions in English for us to submit to our insurer when we got home. Time spent, including x-rays and casting, was less than two hours!!! One of the doctors spoke Engloish fluently and other staff members ranged from none to a little, but between my Spanish and their English, everything went smoothly. San Javier is new and was completed about 2-3 years ago. Make sure that you have enough money available through your credit card limits or from other sources to cover an unanticipated emergency. They will insist on payment up front, but our insurance covered everything after we submitted our claim. Good luck!!! ------------------ Jim IP: Logged |
