I have a few choices before me for AI resorts in Cancun - Sun Palace, Cancun Palace, Beach Palace, Xpu-Ha Palace.

Which resort would you recommend? What are the characteristics for each of these resorts?

Also the RCI listed the AI fee for when May as $1334. Is this price for 2 adults for a week?

This cancun trip is the first for us, so please help us.

Thanks in advance for your help.

You can probably get close to AI rate on your own without giving up a week. Just look on ebay for Palace Resort discounts. There are good descriptions of different Palace properties online elsewhere. I have heard complaints that RCI traders don't always get the resort they sign up for, ie it is overbooked and they are sent to a different Palace resort.

One of my wife's co-workers bought at Moon Palace for about 10 grand. She was helping my wife get rates through her booking agency. She wasn't very happy when she found that her agents price for us was what she was paying on top of her purchase price plus MF. The we went to Moon-palace.com and ended up getting a better price than her co-workers agency. The AI fee that the resorts charge is 95% of the cost even if you are an owner.

If the TS presentations weren't such a pain in the backside, I would love to sit through one and just see what BS they spin. It appears that the Palace Resorts are bring 3 additional resorts online soon. These are resorts that were going under that they bought out.

But to answer your question, I would look at what you really want. If you want beautiful beaches and close proximity to the downtown and other hotels, then either Sun, Cancun, or Beach would be good. Sun excluded, these aren't the largest or the fanciest or have the most amenities, but the location is great. If you want quiet beaches without tons of vendors/pests that aren't spotless and you like huge pools and lots of restaurant, then Moon, Adventura or Xha/Pu palaces probably would be good. I think the Beach/Cancun are the least expensive followed by Sun/Moon(our choice), then Adventura and Xha/Pu.

Hope that helps.

Hi Justin. I wouldn't recommend trading into any of them, but rather check what the big travel outfits are selling trips there for. Many people have found that the total cost is less that way.
If you are going to Cancun, I would rather suggest a non-AI resort.
