I love a good puzzle and you were right, the one in II's directory is not the same as the hotel in Sorrento. After using the address to search with, I found this: http://www.capritourism.com/it/hotel.php?cod=165 It's not particularly useful, but perhaps prove one exists! I would suggest you call or email the hotel for further information. Whatever it's like, Capri is an amazing place to be. I only visited for a day but it was truely wonderful. And very hot. There is plenty to do with many different types of boat trips. The Blue Grotto is worth taking if you don't mind climbing in and out of boats and having to lie down in one in order to enter the grotto! Of course, you can also visit Sorrento & from there, take trips to Naples and Pompeii. And simply soak up the Italian atmosphere. Be prepared for it to be expensive though. Capri is for the rich and famous and the prices are to match. Sorrento picks up on the tourists and in general, since Italy moved to Euro's, it's not as cheap as it used to be. And more expensive than it need be if you're not careful. From Sorrento, we were overcharged for the hydrofoil. I had asked for 4 return tickets but got charged for 5 as the clerk was pressuring us with "presto, presto" as the time to sail was short - a difference of 21 euros. After checking what others had paid, I complained in Capri and to their credit, they took my word (cash transactions only so no receipts) and got a refund from the supervisor once I got back to Sorrento later that day. Just after complaining about the hydrofoil upon arrival in Capri, the clerk at the funicular in Marina Grande in Capri shortchanged us 1 euro on 4 tickets.

You might consider the Category 7 brand new Marriott opening this July. Won't be cheap ... but nothing is (and you only live once). http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/PRJMC When in Sorrento a few weeks ago we stayed in the Hilton Sorrento Palace. Interesting place - great views of Mt. Vesuvius and the Exec Rooms come with all day access to drink and food in the Concierge Rooftop Lounge. It's not in the centre of town however, but up a hill to get such a great view. Think it was about 400E a night. http://www.hilton.com/en/hi/hotels/index.jhtml?ctyhocn=RROHIHI Brian ------------------ Those who dream most, do most. IP: Logged |
