One of the few parts of Europe where I have not traveled much outside the capitals is Scandanavia, so I am looking to fill that gap in the next couple of years and am considering whether there are any timeshare resorts that would be useful in that context. Have any Tuggers used any of the Danish resorts or those in southern Sweden as a base for touring?Timeshare does not always work in this context. For example, in planning a trip to Sicily, I found that the timeshares there were poorly located as a base for touring and decided it was much better to travel point-to-point and book hotels recommended by the Rough Guide. I've got a future exchange into Feriecentret Rageleje Klit, which looks well-located to tour most of Denmark, plus is within an hour of Copenhagen, and a 30-minute drive from the ferry to Sweden. With only a week, I don't think we'll get too far into Sweden, but might take a day for that. Of course I can't say anything from experience yet. The coastal town of Rageleje, where this resort is located, also has lots of rental cottages, at reasonable prices and more charming-looking than the resort. But the resort has sea-views which I love. When I first looked online, there was lots of availability for this resort in spring and summer - I checked again a few times later and didn't see anything. Took this exchange on a whim, hadn't really thought about traveling to Denmark, but one day I idly searched Scandinavia for the first time, and this location looked too good to pass up. IP: Logged |

You should be able to visit some of the crystal factories in Sweden like Kosta Boda and Orrefors from there. They are very interesting and have some great deals at the factory stores. Beautiful country and great people. Here is an interesting link, not sure how good your Danish is but you can still find some good pictures and places to eat and drink. Most Danes and Swedes speak passable english so it won't be a problem there. In case you can't figure it out this link takes you to the various unit layouts and some good pictures. http://www.raageleje-klit.dk/Lejligheder.htm quote: Originally posted by Laurie: I've got a future exchange into Feriecentret Rageleje Klit, which looks well-located to tour most of Denmark, plus is within an hour of Copenhagen, and a 30-minute drive from the ferry to Sweden. Actually, Feriecentret Rageleje Klit, along with Osterso Faergegard, was one of the Danish resorts I was looking at. My wife has never been to Copenhagen, so being close to it would be good for a day or two there. I guess I will have to take a closer look at the Rough Guide or Lonely Planet for other sights in the vacinity. The Jutland penisula portion of Denmark seems much better suited to driving point-to-point and staying in hotels than it does to using any of the timeshares there as a base. Capri and Hotel Smygehus were the two that seemed to be posibilities in southern Sweden. IP: Logged |

We lived several years in Hamburg, Germany and Stockholm, Sweden so pretty well covered northern Europe and Scandanavia but it was some time ago so can't help much with specifics. IP: Logged | |
