While looking through Bonus Vacations, I found a reference to the following resort in White Point N.S. - I believe it's the first t/s in the Maritimes available to RCI members. It's on the south shore of Nova Scotia south-west of Halifax and near Liverpool. [Note: there's another White Point in N.S. - more on that later]Here's the information available in the RCI resort directory. quote:

Though prices are in loonies, it's not cheap but at least it's a start for RCI. [Note: as mentioned in my intro, there's another White Point in Nova Scotia - a very pretty harbour off the beaten track on Cape Breton Island, north of Ingonish. I mention this here because the RCI's Mapquest map is a bit fouled up - panels 1-3 show the WP in Cape Breton while panels 4-10 refer to the WP near Liverpool.] IP: Logged |

I thought the same thing..finally something out east. I hope to be able to travel out there but I don't know about the cost. It seems a bit high but they probably will get it since there isn't anything else out there. If anyone goes there let's hope they can let us know how it was.IP: Logged |

best not get our hopes up...My guess is that RCI is a "subcontractor" for the marketing of these summer rentals. The RCI "resort number" is more an accounting tool than an indication of actual resort membership into the RCI network itself. I also suspect that we'll be seeing more of these in the future, as RCI markets all rentals through ALL of its channels, be they timeshare units or not. ------------------ Some mistakes are just too much fun to only make once... Hey X-Ring, wouldn't a timesharing resort along the Sunshine Trail be sweet?!!A bunch of us should pool our measly $$ and become "The Developer" ourselves... ------------------ Some mistakes are just too much fun to only make once... IP: Logged |

Hi Diane, I assume you mean the Sunrise Trail along the Northumberland Strait between Amherst and Antigonish. If so, indeed it would be sweet - there's the warmest water north of Bermuda, and pretty towns such as Tatamagouche and River John. Sunrise Trail And then of course there's Antigonish, the Highland Heart in Nova Scotia and home of St. Francis Xavier University, the #1 undergraduate university in Canada (Macleans Magazine). St. F.X. As for a timesharing resort, we'll need some deeper pockets than suggested by your "measly $$" as we may have some competition already - from Ron Joyce (born in Tatamagouche and co-founder of Tim Horton's) no less! http://www.foxharbr.com/ Vacation Residence Club Newly introduced at Fox Harb'r is the Vacation Residence Club at Harb’rStone Village. It was created for those who want the luxury of owning a vacation residence, but have limited time to spend at the resort. Here you can enjoy maintenance-free living at an exclusive 5-Star hideaway. This exclusive new offering consists of twelve 3-4-bedroom luxury townhomes, each being offered in one-fourth interests. There are three layouts to choose from, each uniquely furnished and decorated by the resort's professional, interior design team. Each one-fourth interest offers deeded ¼-ownership. Each townhome will have four owners who are assigned to three months usage per year. Each owner will be guaranteed two (2) weeks of usage every eight (8) weeks.

My mistake, X-Ring, I did mean the Sunrise Trail: my favorite part of Nova Scotia. I spent 3 months on a small horse farm run by the Fergusons in Tatamagouche when I was 18 - I've been impressed with the area since. ------------------ Some mistakes are just too much fun to only make once... Mine are: - Bras D'Or Lakes on Cape Breton Island - Cape Breton Highlands National Park and Cape North area - north shore of the Annapolis Basin (Granville Ferry area) Hope you've been to these areas too! We'll be heading that way over the next few weeks and hope to make the Nova Scotia Tattoo while we're in Halifax area. As lovers of Celtic music, we hope to make it some day for the Celtic Colours Festival held every October.

Early to mid-October or Thanksgiving weekend. Catch some "Colours" concerts while you're in Cape Breton - they're usually held in separate venues all over the island. IP: Logged |

I too was interested in a timeshare in Nova Scotia, one of our favourite vacation spots. I e-mailed them re this and received this reply:Thank you for your inquiry. Indeed we are the newest Gold Crown resort, but also one of the best known, most established resorts in the Maritimes. I am the project manager for the new vacation club and we are busily putting the final pieces together to be able to launch our Charter Membership sales program. We fully expect to have this all in place by July 1 and possibly even sooner. Are you presently RCI members and therefore looking for exchange into White Point Beach Resort? Or would you be interested in owning with us? I will be happy to keep you informed in either case. Best Regards, Christopher Frey 1.800.565.5068 Ext. 290 Sounds great - hope that this is the first of many in Canada's Maritime Provinces. Maybe P.E.I. would be a great second!
