There is a proposal to build 300 units at a luxury golf resort in Niagara Falls. This will be a Greg Norman/Rees Jones design. I expect they will command a huge price tag as it is a high demand destination. Will let you know when more details are out.

The summer weeks for sure will have to have a big price tag to balance the giveaway prices on the November thru March weeks. If it goes thru, it would be fun to listen to the sales pitch when the vacation and trading value of a February week is explained.

Unfortunately, our area (I live in Grand Island, NY near the Falls) is not very tourism friendly in the winter. There are casinos, but the nearest ski areas are about a 2 hour drive away, when there isn't any snow on the roads.

Shaggy, you may have an even longer wait. The initial emphasis is on the golf course. Here's a link to the press release:

I have been to Niagara about 7 times and I was there this last Febuary. The first day we were being hit with ice from the falls. Part of the falls had all snow and ice around it. I thought it was nicer than I had ever seen it. There were small lines and parking was ample. The area has done alot of improvement. In fact it was nothing like I saw the last time i was there. With the casinos there I do not think that they will have that hard a time selling timeshares in the off season. In fact if you are a gambler you hardly leave the casinos. When i was there I even mentioned to my wife that the timeshares are comeing next. The sking that my family did was in Barie Ontario, I would say it took about 90 min from the falls and there were other places to ski that were closer.

If you want go into my Journals and click on horse shoe resorts in Barrie Ontario you can see pictures of it frozen. In fact Rci took my pictures of it and used them in there scrap book. The first day we were there was the coldest I have ever felt but it was worth it. With the wind by the falls it was about
-45C. I enjoyed this trip so much that I would do it again. And I even learned a new word EH

I aggree that the summer months will be hard to get but with the 2nd casino opening opening up this spring the place will be rocking year round. Niagara is marketing itself as a world class golf destination with the addition of several new courses. With the moderate climate the golfing season runs from April to November. Good sking is about 1 to 1.5 hours away in western NY state. Toronto and all its attractions are 1 hour. Being from Niagara I have to aggree with many posters that the best time to visit is any time but July and August as most places are over-run and expensive. I can't believe it took so long for the timeshare industry to build in Niagara but is still might be 2007 before they are ready.
