I have exchanged into 2 units of this resort for early June (4th June). I read the reviews and my understanding is that there will not be much activities at the resort during this time. Anybody been there during this time? Any suggestions on things to do will be appreciated.

I got unit L107-O and L210-O. Any comments on the units, view is also appreciated. I called the Resort to find out whether they could assign two units that are next to or closer to each other at check-in. The answer was no.

Thanks a lot.

you can always drive to Ottawa if it gets too boring.. otherwise, there really is not much to do in the area around this time... there's always fishing and some water sports, but that's pretty much it... there's an indoor pool as well and lots of free movies/books/board games.

I can't remember the unit # where we stayed but it was facing the lake and it's really nice and cozy and the furnitures are new. overall, the resort is above average... i'm sure you will enjoy your time there.

Calabogie lists some ideas on their web site. These activities are available nearby. Rockclimbing, Horseback riding, Wilderness walks, Golf, Boat rental/fishing.

Before you go, find out about the insect situation. They may have lots of black flies and mosquitoes. Best to be prepared with bug spray and/or mesh clothing. We were in Quebec last summer early July and it was difficult to enjoy the early evening/ night with all the bugs.

We live in Ottawa and own two weeks at Calabogie lodge. L107 is in the Pineridge Villas set back from the lake on higher ground. This 2BR unit will be quieter as you're away from the playground, sandbox area. L210 is on the western end of the Hilltop villas next to L107 - also a quieter area of the resort.
The bass fishing can be quite good in Calabogie lake. There are a number of golf courses near by, the closest being about 15 minutes away. Exchangers pay a small fee to use the non-motorized equipment which includes canoes, kayaks and paddle boats. You can always go out to eat and take in a movie in Renfrew about 30 minutes away. There's a small indoor pool, sauna and outdoor hot tub. There's a small excercise room and a coujple of pay as you play pol tables upstairs.
For us this is more like going to the cottage, a quiet peaceful spot with all the convieniences of home only an hour from Ottawa.
E-mail me if you need more specific information.
