When a Marriott timeshare owner wishes to book at another Marriott property, what is the TOTAL discount one receives? Dave the Moderator once mentioned it was 35%... How do we book online to obtain that discount? I know there is a promotional code, but don't remember what that will be.IP: Logged |

Type MOD into the corporate code box in the reservation engine.Let me know if you see a rate for a 35% discount when using the MR Gold VISA (which I can't find exists anywhere). I've asked the Marriott Concierge on FT this question but haven't seen an answer back yet. Otherwise, the discount, at least at the resorts I've looked at (NCV and MAW most recently) is 25%. Pat

If you are referring to a rental at a vacation Club resort, the owner discount is an automatic 35%, if booked more than 72 hours in advance. Bookings within 72 hours were 50% discount, but not sure if that still applies. Fredm IP: Logged |

Actually the 35% discount is not automatic, it's based on availability of rooms.25% if you are an MVCI owner 10% if you use your Marriott Visa And yes, those are cumulative percentages. For a total of 35%...but once again, only if the rooms are available for discount and haven't been blacked out. IP: Logged |

Doug, were you ever able to apply partial payment on a MOD VISA booking with Marriott BB's and still get the rate? Were taking advantage of some stays on the OTP rate coming up and will have some BB's to spend. I wanted to apply them to an extension we have booked at NCV, which meets the two-night stay rule. Enquiring minds? Dave pretty much said the same thing as you regarding discounts but he was puzzled by the "gold" verbage in the rate as I was, hence my query to the concierge. I did do the booking at that rate with our MR VISA and it did go through. Pat IP: Logged |

I've never tried a partial payment...but I would assume if you're paying with BB's and then the balance of the bill with your Marriott Visa, they'd honor the rate.IP: Logged |

Pat -Doug describes the discount correctly. Here is the wording from one of the Owner Guides. I have three such guides which were written in about 1997-1998 - when the Gold card still existed. The language is identical in all three. No extra discount for the Gold card, even if you could find a Gold card today: quote: Traveling to one of the 20 destinations where our Marriott Vacation Club resorts are located? Bringing family and friends to your home resort. Take advantage of the many benefits Vacation Ownership offers by staying at a Marriott Vacation Club resort and receive a 25%* discount off the rental rates. As an owner, you may receive an additional 10%* off by requesting your Marriott VISA First Card owner discount when you make your reservation and pay for your stay with your Marriott VISA First Card. * Advance reservations must be made by calling our toll-free number 800-VILLAS-9 (845-5279). Owner discounts must be confirmed at time of booking. Reservations are accepted on a space-available basis, are limited to two villas per stay, and may be subject to certain black-out dates.
[Edited to note that the quoted reference to the Marriott VISA First Card refers to a previous Marriott bank relationship, pre-dating the current Marriott Bank One VISA cards. Also, the stated requirement to telephone Marriott pre-dates our current ability to make on-line discounted reservations using the MOD code.] [This message has been edited by Dave M (edited 05-11-2004).] IP: Logged |

Pat -I just tested the discount rate for NCV. I used 1/13-1/15/05 and, using the MOD code, got two rates: a 25% discount without a VISA and 35% discount with a VISA. Yes, the rate rules specify that the rate with the VISA requires that you "MUST GUARNTEE AND PAY WITH MARRIOTT GOLD CARD VISA." However, the benefit to owners is for using any Marriott VISA. The language specifying "Gold" is just outdated. Many of us here (including me - on several occasions) have obtained the full 35% discount. No one has ever reported on this board of having lost the promised 35% discount merely because they didn't have a specific type of Marriott VISA card. IP: Logged |

Thanks for the research and experience......you folks are the best! I'll report back with my experience regarding mixed payments. I'm thinking I'll apply the bonus bucks upon checkout. Pat IP: Logged |
