Hi,
We check into CV a week from today. The winter has been long and now we're having flooding rains with 50 mph winds - boy do we need sunshine!
Does anyone know if CV offers kids programs? Is anything offered at the Marriott resort? If so, what do they have for the kids to do?
Our kids (now 11, 9 and 9) have LOVED the programs at Grand Ocean and hope to find the same at CV.
Thanks!

we were only kind of there but only saw kids activities at the JW Marriott, the JW does have a kids club and they had some activities like bingo and jewelry making. the lazy river and slide were great, the kids meals at the JW pool the best deal around, you'll have a great time!

CV is bare bones timeshare at this point - the Marketplace is about the size of a closet, no pizza, sandwiches, etc. like you find at every other Marriott. The bar at the pool is open just a few hours a day and the waitress felt she was 'above' that kind of job.

Perhaps when more of the resort opens there will be more services, but all food orders come from the hotel and coolish by the time they drive it over to you. The kids program when I was there last April was non-existent but there weren't many kids around and we almost had the pool to ourselves even though we were told all available units were occupied.

While I liked the privacy of the pool, the JW is the diamond for everything, but as a conference hotel I'm surprised they offer a kid's program at all - although check it out.

Thanks for the replies. I'm sure we'll enjoy our vacation with or without kids programs. I'll write a review when we return.

Like Brian said, the Marketplace is small but it does sell Jet puffed marshmallows. There is a fire pit by pools where some guests congregated at night to roast these. You can get roasting tongs from the front desk. Share a bag and make new friends.

I guess there's a new person at the pool bar. His name is Matt. He's from Hawaii and says he's trying to spread a little aloha spirit at the resort. He's doing a great job at it. Couldn't be nicer or more helpful. He just got his first helper employee. She was also very nice. Besides drinks, they serve some salads or panini sandwiches.

We found the whole staff friendly and helpful.

The Albertsons grocery store had a very good frozen Amy's organic pizza in their "healthy" section (front of the store). We had one of these on pizza night. They also had many good salads at their deli.

Mimi's at the mall (same as Albertson's) was nice. Our portions were big enough to enjoy again the next day. If you bring kids, I'd suggest they split something with you because they'll probably fill up on bread before the order arrives. We sat on the outside patio which was delightful in the late afternoon with the warmth of the sun.

If you plan to have any spa services, treat yourself to a whole day at the spa. The pool is so-o-o-o-o relaxing. The spa restaurant has wonderful food.

I'm sorry I cannot help with your question about Canyon Villas, but I was wondering if you could tell us what the Grand Ocean offered in the way of activities for your pre-teens. Mine are the same ages and after taking a few vacations of driving/walking from here to there constantly, I'm thinking our next vacation needs to be at an everything-under-one-roof type resort. I haven't found any Marriotts to offer adequate pre-teen and young-teen activities.
Thanks!
