We are about to become new owners at the Aruba Surf Club (Platinum). We are wondering how challenging it is to make a reservation for a two week stay by using the lock off studio for the first week of the stay and the other for the second week? Has anyone had any experience with this and if so what are the challenges? Thanks in advance.IP: Logged |

Welcome to TUG and to Marriott timeshares. Here is what you have to do: Reserve the whole unit for one of the weeks you want to go. Let's use June 1st for example. Pay the $75 lockoff fee and lock your unit off. You now have two units reserved for one week. (June 1st) Deposit the main unit with II leaving yourself a reservation for your sudio for June 1st and an one-bedroom on deposit with II. Now comes the hard part. Take your one-bedroom deposit and request an unit for June 8th. You have a few things going for you. First, it is your home resort so you get a preference, Secondly, you are a Marriott owner so you get first shot at units that come available but there is always the chance that nothing is available. I would say your chances are good but there is no guarantee. IP: Logged |

No it is easier than that. When you call Marriott to reserve the week you tell them that you want to do the lockoff. Then reserve the first week for one part of the unit and the second week for the other part of the unit. They have no problem letting you do it if it is available.Jan IP: Logged |

Jan is right! I work for Marriott at the Boston Custom House. Just book far enough in advance and book both weeks one after the other. It's your home resort so just ask for your weeks.IP: Logged |

I agree. You can reserve either or both of your lockoff unit weeks when talking to Marriott or you can do it online.IP: Logged |

Welcome to TUG and the Marriott forum, Tim. Here to lurk, I hope? We don't see much about Custom House here. Hope you can enlighten us. Enjoy your stay! Pat IP: Logged |

This is fantastic information! We are thrilled to be new owners very shortly! We are buying to go to Aruba every year. We are truly blessed to have been able to be there twice in the past year! So, it was just time to buy!A little worried about maintenance fees going up - but will deal with that later! Thanks again for all of your feedback! IP: Logged |

I wouldn't worry about maintenance fees going up. Yes, they will go up, but likely at close to or just slightly above the rate of inflation. You can see historical increases at various Marriott resorts in this TUG chart.IP: Logged |

Welcome to TUG jtdillian,We are visiting the Custom House in June for the first time and are very excited. Any tips you can offer will be appreciated. I have spent a fair amount of time in Boston on business, so I know the general lay of the land. Stopped by the resort just to check out the parking situation when I was in town in March. We have a big handicapped van, so I was afraid that would be a problem. The lady at the desk called in the gentleman from outside who told me we would be able to park outside there if we couldn't fit in the garage. Does that match your understanding? Thanks, Sheila IP: Logged |
