Thanks for the update. What is the difference between ocean front, ocean side and ocean view. The ocean front and ocena view I think I get, but the ocean side is confusing me? IP: Logged |

Okay. Thanks all for the view information BUT I am still confused. Sorry. If you are in an Ocean side unit what is it that you are looking at and how is that better than an Ocean View? I am looking at all three and the prices and wondering what I will be giving up by not buying an Ocean Front view. The other question is whether the investment for a gold season (we would travel to Aruba during that time of the year) is worth it. Would my other Marriott's trade in well? Would a studio consistently trade in for a 1 bdrm? IP: Logged |

JimI own two (2) gold weeks, Oceanside Units at the Aruba Surf Club. Several months ago there was a similar thread on this board. I am trying to locate it for you but I am having difficulty. It is my understanding that Building 1 has two types of units and twelve floors. Ocean Front is just that, units facing the ocean. Now,I hope my directions are right (lol) Oceanside are units with a view north or south. That is looking south overlooking the Surf Club pool towards the Holiday Inn & other resorts)or north up the coast towards the California Light house. IMHO the higher the floor the better the view. The thread I am searching for discusses the floors which are considered Oceanside Units. In short when I bought I was told Oceanside Units are floors three (3) or better. This has changed. It is my understanding now and I have confirmed this with the resort manager that Oceanside Units are floors 1-12 and requests for room locations for higher floors by owners would be monitored by Marriott so that the room location would alternate ie. high floor one year, low the next. Maybe Dave can give me an assist by finding the thread to help clarify this issue. bob ------------------------------- Owner Aruba Surf Club IP: Logged |

When I purchased my OS week in March I was told that Bldg. 2 was all OV and that the upper floors, don't know the exact #s, in bldg 3 were OV as well. I really did not concern myself too much with Bldg. 2 and 3 info since my unit was in Bldg 1.IP: Logged |

Simply said, the Oceanside units is in the building adjacent to the beach closest to the ocean so you get a better and wider angle view of the ocean.Building 2 where the Oceanview units are sits further back behind the OceanFront/Oceanside Building 1 , so your view is a more distant view of the ocean and a narrower view between the Ocean Club for units facing north and the future Surf Club buildings facing south. We own a Gold Surf Club and have split it for trade once. Marriott has been imposng "like for like" exchanges and you can not get 1 BR exchanges during prime season. I had to beg a rep to make an exception to trade the lockoff for a 1 BR at the Ocean Club for a low season week, the first week of December.I have seen November weeks for 2 BR on HHI with the lockoff. FYI - the buildings are actually 13 stories high...but the numbers in the elevator go from 1-12 to 14...we stayed on the top floor. The numbering system is weird - 4614??? I think. We also stayed on the 4th floor. There are no guest rooms/units on the first floor of building 1 - just a small lobby and elevator area. Building 2 will have the main check-in lobby and other 'stuff' - Marketplace, gym, etc. Units will also be on the second floor - this is different then the Ocean Club which has rooms on the 1st floor/lobby level.------------------ Pat My Trips and Travel Website - Pictures and More... Did you get an update on the planned completion dates? The Marriott.com site shows April 2006 for Bldg. 2 and Dec. 2007 for Bldg. 3. Not sure if this is up-to-date.IP: Logged |

This is from corporate, not the resort, so it was the 150,000 MR points and 40,000 self referral MR points. IP: Logged |

mpook2002, Was there any mention of high speed internet access in the rooms? I believe someone mentioned that the was access in the lobby for a fee. It was my understanding that all Marriotts would be offering high speed internet in the rooms for free but that may be cost prohibitive in Aruba.IP: Logged |

There was Internet access for as fee in the lobby of the Ocean Club and Marriot hotel. I didn't hear anything about Internet access for the rooms. I think the phones in each room had a jack for a dial up connection, but I'm not sure where you would be able to call for access. Phone rates were very expensive.I was told that construction on Building 2 is ahead of schedule and would be opening earlier than planned. ------------------ Renaissance Aruba Marriottt's Aruba Surf Club [This message has been edited by mpook2002 (edited 05-12-2005).] IP: Logged |

Why would anyone pay that price for one week when you could buy a quarter share in the Ritz for $200,000? Has Marriott overpriced the timeshare, or underpriced the Ritz?Brian ------------------ Those who dream most, do most. IP: Logged |

Ritz-Carlton Club resorts usually sell in periods of 1/12 fractual share with a minimum of 21 days occupancy per year; not quarter-shares (13 weeks/year). Recent prices for RC Clubs: Aspen $170K to $510K; Bachelor Gulch $200K to $490K; and St. Thomas $136K to $257K. IP: Logged |
